The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is preparing a comprehensive decentralization policy to address bottlenecks in the decentralization process which has been implemented in the country for the past 20 years.
The minister of local government and rural development, Hon Joseph Yileh Chireh made this known in parliament today when he answered a question by the MP for Offinso North, Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim.
The MP wanted the Minister to brief the House on measures being taken to strengthen Ghana’s decentralization process as a tool for fighting poverty in the rural areas. According to the minister, the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is also seriously considering the issue of a rural development policy to promote rural development.
