The MP for Ablekuma South, Hon. Fritz Baffour says his constituency being the second largest in Ghana faces so many challenges. He said some of the challenges are lack of jobs for the youth, inadequate educational infrastructure, sanitation problems and others.
Hon. Fritz Baffour stated these during the press briefing at which he presented 40 computers to St. Mary’s Senior High School (SHS) at Korle- Bu in Accra. Earlier, the MP donated 1000 Ghana cedis towards the 60th Anniversary celebrations of St. Mary’s Secondary School. He also presented fishing nets to fishermen at Chorkor.
The MP said the largest estate in West Africa is the Dansoman SSNIT flats but unfortunately the drainage system, at the place is very poor and needs urgent attention. He lamented that Ablekuma South has a large population of over 250,000 but the financial allocation to the constituency by government is the same as that of constituencies with smaller population.
The Headmistress of St Mary’s SHS Ms Doris Bramson who received the computers at the school’s computer laboratory thanked the MP for his gesture.
She said the gift is timely because Information Communication Technology (ICT) is the order of the day which everyone needs to acquaint him or herself to in other to be competitive in the global village. He said lack of computers has been a challenge to the school and therefore urged government and other institutions to come to their aid.
