Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams, has taken a swipe at the professional integrity of the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., by claiming that the outspoken journalist always touts the credentials of President John Evans Atta Mills and wishes for his second term in office because that is where his bread is buttered.
According to him, Kwesi Pratt always wears his heart on his sleeve regarding who he prefers to win the NDC flagbearership race and will stop at nothing in ensuring that President Mills emerges the eventual victor so his bread can continuously be buttered.
Clearly riled by Mr Pratts assertion that President Mills is two thousand times better than the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, the Deputy General Secretary of the governing NDC, who was speaking on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, indicted the seasoned journalist as one of the detractors of the NDC party.
Kwesi Pratts wish is that President Mills continues to be in power and he has never hidden that wish, so he will do anything to ensure that. His support is for President Mills and he continues to say that Mills is better than Nana Konadu because that is where his bread is buttered. yes, that is where his bread is buttered so that will be his wish, he asserted.
Amidst protestations from Kwesi Pratt, he (Kofi Adams) uncharitably went overdrive by labeling the staunch Nkrumaist a hypocrite and one who usually double-speaks on radio.
His support is for President Mills; sometimes Pratt says one thing on Peace FM and makes an entirely different submission on Radio Gold. He wishes for Mills to be in powerhe will continue to work for that as he has been doing always, he revealed.
Unsettled by Kofi Adams verbal attack on him, Mr Pratt, who expressed disappointment at his co-panelists line of argument, reiterated that Mrs Rawlings will be soundly trashed at the NDCs presidential primaries next month and sarcastically added that he was sorry at Kofi Adams behavior if he thought that was how he could win over delegates to Mrs. Rawlings side.
He further added that should the former First Lady win the NDC primary, the whole country will be thrown in a state of despair and bereavement.
But the staunch Konadu backer rubbished off Mr. Pratts assertions and further added that any form of advice from the Insight Editor was unsolicited. He wondered why he (Pratt) has such a vested interest in NDC internal matters even though he claims to be a staunch CPP member, stressing that Kwesi Pratt always cries more than the bereaved.
The NDC will on July 8 battle for the destiny of the party at their Sunyani Congress to elect the candidate who will lead them into the 2012 General Elections.
The contest is now a two-horse race between President Mills and Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings following the inability of Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah to meet the deadline for the submission of nomination forms.
