Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako Jnr., is predicting defeat for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate-elect for the Abuakwa-North Constituency, Ambassador Victor Smith, in the 2012 General Elections.
He has stated quite emphatically that Victor Smith will never win the Abuakwa-North parliamentary seat from the NPP.
H.E. Victor Emmanuel Smith, who is GhanaοΏ½s Ambassador to the Czech Republic with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Hungary, was given the nod by popular acclamation as the Abuakwa North candidate on the ticket of the NDC. He went unopposed.
The jostle for the Abuakwa North seat heightened following the decision by Victor Smith to run for parliament. He will be up against Mr Joseph Boakye Dankwa Adu, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate-elect for the area.
But contributing to the discussions on Peace FMοΏ½s Kokrokoo Morning Show, the Senior Journalist described as interesting the strong campaign being waged by the one-time aide to ex-president Rawlings but stated that οΏ½there is no way he (Smith) is going to be in parliamentοΏ½.
According to him, οΏ½if you look in the crystal ball and based on the historical analysis of the constituency, the trend of voting, he will loseοΏ½.
Kweku Baako said even though Victor Smith has taken a good spirited adventure and has waged a good campaign, it is not possible for him to win.
οΏ½οΏ½he (Victor Smith) is waging a very interesting campaign but when I look in the crystal ball, there is no way Victor is going to be in parliament. He will not win, it is not possible; he has taken a good spirited adventure but he will not win. I like the spirit that he is displaying towards his campaign and the attempt to show that he is some hybrid - somebody from the town with everybody following him but he will not win,οΏ½ he stated.
He dismissed reports that Victor Smith has captured the hearts of majority of the constituents and poses a threat to the NPP, describing it as οΏ½media hypeοΏ½.
