A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Alidu Seidu has said the meeting between former President John Rawlings and the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo will play a significant role in lessening the tension in the country.
The Presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), ex- President Rawlings at his residence in Accra.
Speaking to Citi News, Dr. Alidu said the meeting should prove to all political party supporters that peace is significant as the December general elections approaches.
οΏ½It has demonstrated one of the sincerities which has been lacking in our politics for quite some time now. It has also demonstrated that we are all Ghanaians and we all care about the peace that will happen in GhanaοΏ½, he said.
He noted that οΏ½no matter the angle we look at this meeting today, it is highly significant and can help for peace to prevail by letting people know that no matter the difference, we are still the same people and we still need peace before, during and after the elections.οΏ½
