The Spokesperson for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Frank Agyekum has alleged that the editor of the AL Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature is scheming to cause a rift between the former President and the NPPs Presidential candidate for the 2012 elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Al Hajj newspaper has been publishing a series of reports which suggest that there is growing disaffection between the two leading NPP personalities.
The latest report indicated that the former President Kufuor had warned Nana Addo to rescind contesting the electoral results in court. Mr. Agyekum however has told Citi News, that the reports were false.
I can assure you that no such meeting has taken place, the Council of Elders and Nana Akufo-Addo met at President Kufuors house and I can tell you for a fact that President Kufuor has never ever said any such thing to Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to him, what the Al Hajj newspaper has done is a figment of the imagination of the editor, Alhaji Bature. This is not the first time he has tried to do such a thing. He has always tried to put a wedge between Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo. He has failed previously and he is going to fail this time too.
Mr. Agyekum maintained that the ex-President was fully behind Nana Addo.
"He has goofed again and President Kufuor is behind Nana Akufo-Addo and we want to assure all and sundry that they should ignore what Alhaji Bature has put out; there is no truth in it.
