Statistics prove that the National Democratic Congress put up a sterling performance in the Ashanti Region during the last general elections when they managed to poll more than 600,000 votes in their main political opponents stronghold.
And ahead of the 2016 general elections, President Mahama has made it clear that the party is aiming to double the figure and claim ownership of some parts of the region.
Prior to this, Mr. Yamoah Ponko is on record to have declared on 9th April, 2014 that come what may, the NDC is likely to scoop 30% of votes from the Ashanti Region in 2016.
The chilling prediction by the president has dawned on Mr. Hopeson Adorye and he has advised that the New Patriotic Party must put in place countermeasures to prevent the NDCs projection from becoming a reality.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Adroye explained that should the NPP take President Mahamas message with a pinch of salt, they will be laughing at the wrong side of their mouth after the final declaration of results of the 2016 elections.

He disclosed that he had picked up intelligence that the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the ruling party had equipped certain people with skills to manipulate the biometric process and this could have a telling effect on the fortunes of the NPP.
Aside this ploy, Mr. Adorye added that the way has also been paved for people living in neighboring countries to come and reside in Ashanti Region and make the place their home.
This attempt is to make the EC regard them as Ghanaians when registration starts, he noted. According to him, the above strategy by the NDC convinced the President to speak out the way he did when he visited the region.
In a related development, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has stated that if the NDC manages to get one million votes in Ashanti Region, the NPP would also record two million votes in the NDCs stronghold, Volta Region.
