Central regional communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has conceded GhanaοΏ½s economy is in crisis.
Speaking on Asempa FMοΏ½s Ekosii Sen programme on Wednesday, the NDC guru stated emphatically that οΏ½Ghana is sickοΏ½.
He said successive governments after GhanaοΏ½s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have adopted ad-hoc measures to solving economic issues οΏ½that is why we are in this messοΏ½.
This notwithstanding, Allotey Jacobs said the ongoing National Economic Forum to find solutions to the current challenges is the panacea to our economic woes.
The aspiring Central regional NDC Chairman underscored the need for everyone irrespective of political affiliations to help government to salvage the ailing economy before it gets out of hand.
οΏ½The economic forum is not about political parties or ideology, it is about the Ghanaian dream; so the pull him down attitude must stop,οΏ½ he added.
Allotey Jacobs assured Ghanaians of brighter days ahead because οΏ½President Mahama by organizing this forum has taken the bull by the hornοΏ½ to nip the economic challenges in the budοΏ½.
On the contrary, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai, Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, said the current economic crisis is self-inflicted.
He indicated that the economic mess is as a result of governmentοΏ½s fiscal indiscipline in the roundup to the 2012 general elections.
The Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai MP noted that Ghana is now at a crossroads because the Mahama-led administration has no clue about how to salvage the economy.
οΏ½It is very difficult for any reasonable person to believe that what government failed to do in six years can be done in two years,οΏ½ he stressed.
Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu called on President Mahama to resign since the work is too big for him.
