Two time flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has picked the sixth position on the ballot paper with his close contender, Alan K. Kyerematen picking the fifth position.
Seven candidates vying for the position of a flagbearer in the NPP on Tuesday morning balloted for their positions for the upcoming Super Delegates primaries.
A Special Electoral College has been fixed for August 31, 2014, which is aimed at reducing the number of candidates contesting for the position to five per the party�s constitution.
The National Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party approved the candidacy of all the seven presidential aspirants who were vetted last week.
The aspirants are: the 2012 flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; a former Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimo; and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a former MP for Offinso.
The rest are: a former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng; Joe Ghartey, MP for Essikado-Ketan; and Asuogyaman MP, Osei Ameyaw.
After the balloting which took place at the party�s headquarters, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, former MP for Offinso North picked the first position, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, former Information Minister, second, Francis Addai Nimoh, MP for Mampong; third, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, MP for Asuogyaman, fourth position and the seventh position went to Mr Joe Ghartey, MP for Esikado-Ketan.
