Despite polling 4.75% as against the 94.35% Nana Akufo Addo polled on Saturday, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has likened the contest to an El Clasico match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
Although he failed to mention which candidate represented the interest of the above football teams, he stated that despite the score line, they still gave delegates something to cheer about.
Speaking at the Efua Sutherland Park shortly after the winner of the contest was announced, Mr. Kyerematen entreated every member of the party to stand behind Nana Akufo Addo and vote to ensure they return to power in 2016.
Three candidates entered Saturdays election with the hope of receiving the mandate from delegates to lead the New Patriotic Party in 2016. However, only one amongst them is entitled to that ultimate honor; and Nana Akufo Addo for the third consecutive time, bagged it.
