Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo- Addo, would today handover a proposal to the National Council of his party detailing his reason to retain his two time running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate.
Long before Nana Addo was re-elected flagbearer of the NPP last Saturday, he had indicated his intention to retain Dr Bawumia and subsequently presented the name of the celebrated economist to the partys National Steering Committee when he met them on Monday.
Although some have kicked against Nanas decision to play the same political card and urged him to pick Mr. Alan Kyerematen instead of Dr. Bawumia, others within the party have also welcomed it with joy.
One of such persons is the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the party, Mr.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
As the party awaits the National Council to decide Dr Bawumias fate, Chairman Wontumi has already predicted that Nana Addos presidency in 2016 would be incomplete without Dr. Bawumia.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com Mr. Boasiko stated that Dr. Bawumia has been of immense benefit to the party since he was resigned as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG). According to him, even before Dr. Bawumia made the move to join the NPP, he performed exceptionally well as a public servant and buoyantly grew Ghanas economy under ex-president Kufour.
Aside this, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako also claim Dr. Bawumias contributions won the party more seats in the Northern part of the country. He quickly added that the proficiency Dr. Bawumia displayed at the Supreme Court during the infamous 2012 election petition, made it hard to write him off and search for a replacement.
