A group belonging to the governing National Democratic Congress has kicked against President John Mahamas re-nomination of Gabriel Barima as District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South.
Barima shot into instant fame, a few months ago, when he stormed out of a public event amidst hurling of invectives at a public health worker, who had pshawed at him.
He was captured on video furiously demanding: Who said tweaa? Are you my co-equal? Tweaa is a local form of shawing to express disdain. Barimas heckler let out the word to the hearing of the DCE as he addressed a gathering of health workers.
The presidency pardoned him for his misconduct, but Mahama later gave him the sack after Barima, allegedly boasted in a subsequent interview about the incident.
The President eventually re-nominated him after months of intervention from traditional leaders and party executives including NDCs General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
Barima will need at least two-thirds majority of votes of the Assembly for him to be passed and re-instated.
However, the group says the infamous DCE has brought shame and disgrace to the people of the District and must, therefore, not be re-instated.
