Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has won the Suame constituency primaries of the New Patriotic Party [NPP].
He retained the seat by polling 283 votes out of the total votes cast of 511. He defeated his main rival Kojo Genfi who pulled 89 votes in the ongoing primaries - the other contenders, John Darko and Richard Boadi had 66 and 54 votes respectively.
Honourable Kyei Mensah Bonsu will thus be in the House for the sixth time in a row after he was first elected in 1996.
The Minority Leader had been under pressure to give up his seat for a new blood but he stated emphatically that the top leaders in Parliament must be protected by the party from re-election politics.
