Kwesi Pratt, Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has rubbished opposition parties' requests for a new voters' register.
According to him, a new voters' register will not rectify the perennial electoral problems confronting the nation.
Speaking on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Mr. Pratt noted that the register has been altered several times but the crux of the problem still persists.
This is because, to Kwesi Pratt, the government is wasting national resources on the register when it is rather imperative to have a National ID Card for all Ghanaians.
He was of the view that getting a National ID Card will help solve the irregularities in Ghana's elections.
"Till when will we realize that this voters’ registration that we do every four years is costing us. There’s no wisdom in it. It is unbeneficial. It won’t help us. So, we must come up with a National ID Card. Since when will we see the sense in this?"
To the seasoned editor, a new voters' register is nothing but a waste of time.
“Why are we wasting our time? Why are we wasting national resources on just compiling voters’ register after voters’ register after voters’ register which is even irrelevant?" he questioned.
