The defeated presidential candidate of the Peoples’ National Convention (PNC), Mr Hassan Ayariga has announced a breakaway from the party.
According to him, he was treated unfairly at the party’s just ended delegates’ congress.
He also announced he would be contesting the 2016 General elections as a presidential candidate.
Mr Ayariga lost to Dr Edward Mahama in a closely contested election after polling 426 votes against Dr Mahama’s 492 votes.
But speaking on Accra-based Unique FM, after the elections, Mr Ayariga announced that he had broken away from the party because “the party does not deserve Hassan Ayariga.”
He also described the party as an “illegal” one.
“I am not going to endorse an illegal party anymore. I have tried to build this party. I tried to move this party from illegality and making the party become more formidable and more united,” he said.
Mr Ayariga also announced that he would contest as the 2016 elections as a presidential candidate.
“My name and face will be on the ballot box in 2016…and that is a wait for” [sic]
