Traders at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle said they punished the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by voting against it as a result of the ill-treatment they received from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
Prior to the December 7 elections and inauguration of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange, the AMA sacked hawkers and traders who displayed their wares on the sidewalks and roads at the city center.
But just few days after the election and change of government, the traders have returned to the facility claiming their party is in power.
The situation at the Nkrumah Circle has returned to its usual state of lawlessness as activities of these traders are making movement on the sidewalks difficult and causing heavy vehicular traffic on the roads.
According to the traders, city authorities have stopped harassing them due to the change of government hence they have taken advantage of the absence of the AMA taskforces to go about their normal businesses.
They said they voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because they were threatened by the former government and were forced out from selling at the Nkrumah Circle.
“Nana Addo is in and they are not going to sack us again. They said they are going to sack us from here so we voted for Nana so they can’t sack us.

@ NANA .... Please dont use harsh words on these ones. I believe the knew govt knows how to deal with this situation. Lets all play our parts responsibly. No Sharp Teeth will be entertained at this new level.
Unfortunately trying to satisfy you guys would make Ghana less developed......u guys 4ork anyhow give birth anyhow......become irresponsible.........and expect manna to fall from heaven........what is free maternal......just give birth irresponsibly.......and leave de rest for government........complete rubbish and backward for ghana.........developed nations have reasons for free maternal care.......Ghana should implement birth control
If that is your mind then 'stand well' cos Ghana is facing fact. 'Travel and see'.
Why dont you stop insulting them since one or two of them could be your relative or a friend's relative. We all have our reasons for voting Nana in/out or Mahama in/out. They have theirs too. Please respect that and stop insulting again. They only answered to a question they were asked as to who they voted for and why. I would have voted Mahama out but i campaigned for Nana in my small corner massively cos of the insults Amissah Arthur and friends were lashing on him. We believe Nana has better plans for them. He wont encourage such acts and he together with team will make Circle a beautiful place.
I agree. Nana will make sure they leave. Within the first 6 months!
