General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says he was extremely shocked at the outcome of the December 7 general elections.
According to him, given the massive infrastructural development undertaken by the Mahama-led administration, they expected nothing but a landslide victory in the polls.
The NDC suffered a humiliating defeat in the elections with majority of its Members of Parliament losing their seats to members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Former President John Mahama polled 4,713,277 votes representing 44.4 percent and President Akufo-Addo polled 5,716, 026 representing 53 percent of the total votes cast. The NPP also won an overwhelming majority of parliamentary seats.
This performance, according to political pundits is the worst in the history of the opposition NDC. The fall out has included trading of accusations and an ongoing blame game among members. The party has since constituted a 13 member committee to investigate what led to their defeat.
But Asiedu Nketia on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday maintained that all party members are to blame for their defeat.
He noted that the committee has been tasked to diagnose the real reason for the defeat to enable them correct their wrongs and forge ahead in unity.
The NDC scribe however said the NDC must be commended for conceding defeat in spite of the technical challenges in the elections.
“Democracy is about the conduct of the loser but we as a ruling party accepted defeat because we respect the state institutions” he added.
General Mosquito urged all political parties to take a cue from the NDC since “there is no perfect elections nowhere”.

May God continue to bless u with wisdom. General. Best general secretary in Ghana
Wob3wu mpo. Kronfuo. You always stole the election; now that an antidote was found you say you are shocked. Wish your shock had taken you to a sick bed.
This general secretary is completely flummoxed by his own statement. A mature politician would know the difference between political actions that have direct or indirect impact on the living ways/standards of the population. Dealing with inflation and exchange have immediate impact on your citizens. But building roads and roundabouts have minimal impact on your people. If that is the case who was NDC's economic adviser for these 8yrs? That person was paid millions of Cedis and he did nothing. So why is such a high profile NDC operative expressing this shock and failures in public soon after such a momentous elections? This proves that NDC is not an intellectual party. What a shame.
then it means NDC-EC have rigged the elections.
This election results confirm the widely held opinion that NDC only wins election through rigging in collusion with EC. I have time without number posited on this platform that anytime NPP wins in Easter and Ashanti regions, then it means NPP-EC have rigged the elections. I feel elated and vindicated. It goes without saying that NPP had been winning the 2008 and 2012 elections. In the case of 2012, Supreme Court had mercy on NDC albeit the compelling evidence that NPP produced.
You got shocked....you should have died instantly. You babies with sharp teeth took Ghanaians for granted. we don't think far.
What happened to the "we are cruising to victory speech" Gen. Mosquito? Only "***barred word***" will be surprised by the 2016 elections The signs were so clear on the wall but you taught you could you use the Electoral Commission's system to Rig but God was on the side of the crying people of Ghana. Never, never take the people for a ride Asiedu Nketia wai
Was the Cape Coast stadium not a gift from Chinnese govent? Was the SHS buildings not a grant from the Europeans?; Was the circle interchange not a loan from the Brazil govent? Name one single thing Mahama did with his moneY?
Look at this man oo. Why do you have to be supprised? You think Ghanaians are not wise.
DON'T FOOOOOOOOL YOUR SUPPORTERS! YOU WERE FAIRLY HUMILIATED!
