Retired Ghanaian diplomat K.B Asante has called on the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko to resign over allegations of attempted bribery until his name is cleared through investigations.
According to the Ghanaian statesman, the President must impress upon Mr. Agyarko to quit since the allegation does not bode well for his government.
“It is a good idea that he should leave the scene. You cannot work with a minister with so many allegations especially when we have so many important things to do.
“So yes, here the president should step in [but] not in the public domain, but he should call the minister and ask him, ‘In the circumstances, will you please resign so that we go into this matter and if everything is fine I will find another thing for you to do?’ In my opinion, yes, he should call him not publicly but quietly and say, ‘Please, I expect you to resign on this matter so that you can clear your name,’” Mr Asante said on Class FM Monday.”
Mr. Asante’s claims come after, a member of the appointments committee of Parliament Mahama Ayariga on Friday alleged that Mr. Agyarko who was then yet to be approved gave the leadership of parliament some money as bribe to each of the minority members on the committee with the aim to influencing them so his nomination was approved without delay.
His claim has, however, been denied by several members of the committee including the Chairman Joseph Osei Owusu and Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak.

We are living in very dangerous times in this country. The country is too politically divided and highly polarized along party lines. And because of this we can no longer differentiate between simple wrong and right. We are creating a country where hoodlums will hide behind party colours and commit crimes with the full knowledge that there will always be blind support from party faithfuls when the deed is uncovered. We put party interests ahead of national interests and this sets a very dangerous precedent for a developing nation like ours.
I guess this old man is suffering of memory lost, he only regains his memory when the NPP is in power. Old man get yourself some whiskey and go to bed, wake up in 4 years time and you'll see the good work of the NPP government. Awarla.
Is this the same K. B. Asante that betrayed Nkrumah? He should give us the space to breath. What has been his Contribution to mother Ghana, except for betraying the first President of the land.
This man was quite for the past 8-years and all of a sudden he has waked up to chase NPP again . He did the same thing under Kufour . Sir, we know you very well.
Some of these 'recycled elements' are now fit for the bin. If somebody is accused of any offense then you must resign. Did his Ex President Mahama resign when he was accused of allegedly receiving a Ford Vehicle from a Burkinabe road contractor.
Wofa KB this one de3. How many times did you encourage previous ministers to resign when the signs were so clear? Wofa take your time wae bcos I like you so much.
Hon. K B Asante, please reserve some of the respect you have, when it comes to NPP you are quick to react. Munkhtaka and Ayariga who is senior on the minority side, he is the chief whip and has swear Allah that nothing of that sort happen and you are calling Agyarko to resign. What is your findings of the your investigation? You believe Ayariga more than Munthaka whom you have selected as a chief whip on your side. Why don't you talk about the Tractors meant for farmers that Ayariga diverted to his farms. Ayariga has no credibility to talk about anybody.
Ayarko is TOOOOOOOOO MUCH for NDC hence this diabolical twist. Power struggle in NDC will not affect NPP's work. SHAME UNTO NDC!
On what basis should Agyarko resign? Ayariga never accused him. He said Muntaka gave him the money-Muntaka is denying it so why should Agyarko resign? You now understand why Ghana is where we are now? How can you claim to be a christian/muslim and lie so blatantly. The sad part is that they are all swearing by the name of God. Zero fear of God. Can they lie if the swore by Antoa or some diety? God have mercy.
Rokie, this man has never said anything sensible, at least, since I grew old enough to distinguish between right and wrong, period! Did ayariga say Agyako has given him money? At any rate, Muntaka should rather resign and not Agyarko. This is simple logic.
