The Joe Ghartey Committee has asked Member of Parliament for Bawku Central to apologize to his colleagues in Parliament for leveling allegations against the Energy Minister, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko and Chairman of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee (PAC), Joe Osei-Owusu.
The Joe Ghartey Committee was set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye, to probe the allegations and make a report on the case to ascertain the truth in the issue.
Following the Committee's report, it has been established that the Bawku Central MP and a member of the PAC made unsubstantiated and unfounded allegations, and therefore is being directed to render an unqualified apology before Parliament.
Peace FM's Parliamentary Correspondent, Emmanuel Akorli filed the report on the news bulletin at 6 pm.
The Committee’s report, which was laid before Parliament yesterday [Wednesday] recommended that Mr. Ayariga be reprimanded by the Speaker of the House in accordance with Section 35 of the Parliament Act 1965 (Act 300).
The report also recommended that Mr. Ayariga renders an unqualified apology to the House, explaining that this would purge him of contempt.
More details soon . . .

This cover up job is a complete waste of time. Joe Ghartey is as corrupt as those accused of offering the bribe. Ghanaian know his record as Attorney General. These lame recommendations will in no way absolve Osei-Wusu and co because it is open knowledge that the Ghanaian MPs are corrupt. I concure with @Kofi that CHRAJ should take up the investigations and also call for CCTV footage that Okujeto alleged in his memorandum. Also parties in the bribery allegation must be given the opportunity to cross examine each other in order to unravel the full facts and the truth.
This is typical of kocck&bull committee. Look, they have sat Ayariga down and have unanimously agreed that the disgrace will damage both NDC and NPP, and Ghana as a whole. If not so who would convince me that issue like this, rendering apology will be just enough to kill the matter.Shamme on you, Ghana paliament. The international community is watching you. Mmoa, animals. Mmcheeww
I never doubted the out come of the so call committee investigation, What better results would Ghanaians have gotten when the boys are ask to investigate their Boss ,Mr Ayariga most of us are matured enough to be deceived ,we know the truth even in the silence of words.
Fuuuuuulish Ghartey committee. Iddddddiotic parliament
Wasted our time only to demand an apology?? A$$holes
I feel sad to be a Ghanaian If apology then why the formation of the committee Anyway that is how non forward looking people behave
There should be expulsion of those who connived to bring Parliament House in to disrepute. Those involved must be expelled. Nothing like apology. We should rise to the occasion and demand that Ayariga and cohorts are sanctioned to serve as deterrent. Joe Osei Wusu and Boakye Agyarko will do themselves lots of great service by proceeding to court and seek damages for the wrong done to their names. The damage done to their names is huge. The should be no tears for the crooks.
cheap committee. shame on parliament ayariga has to be sacked
Ayariga bribed ghartey committee with pito, and kola nuts.
