The Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States of America is about to commence investigations into the US$2.25 billion bond issuance by the Akufo Addo government in which Franklin Templeton, a US registered company purchased 95% of 15-year and 7-year bonds. This follows a successful filing of complaint with the US regulatory body by the NDC minority in parliament.
A statement released yesterday and signed by the Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu said the complaint, which was in fulfilment of the pledge the Minority made at their April 17, 2017 media encounter was filed with the Enforcement Division of the SEC in Washington DC on 1st May, 2017 by the Ranking Member on Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on behalf of the Minority.
“The Minority also wishes to observe that, note has been taken of the interest shown in this matter by Ghana's Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) after receiving a petition from a private citizen and assures that the investigations being conducted by the United States regulatory body will not conflict nor undermine CHRAJ's investigation”, the statement said, adding further the minority is committed to cooperating in assisting with both investigations in any way in the supreme national interests of Ghana and the United States of America.

US$2.25 BILLION BOND SCANDAL - MINORITY SUCCESSFULLY PETITIONS SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
The National Democratic Congress Minority in the Parliament of Ghana wishes to bring to the attention of the good people of Ghana that in fulfillment of the pledge we made at our April 17, 2017 media encounter and consistent with our constitutional and democratic mandate, we have successfully filed a complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States of America. This will lead to the commencement of investigations by the US regulatory body into the infamous US$2.25 billion bond issuance in which a US registered company - Franklin Templeton purchased 95% of 15-year and 7-year bonds.
The SEC will primarily be investigating suspected conflict of interest and insider trading which are violations of US law by the Hon. Trevor G. Trefgarne who is a Director of Franklin Templeton and a Board Chairman of Enterprise Group - a company owned and founded by the Finance Minister of Ghana, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta.
The Minority's complaint was filed with the Enforcement Division of the SEC in Washington DC on 1st May, 2017 by our Ranking Member on Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee - Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on behalf of the Minority.
In a response, the SEC thanked the Minority for the fruitful engagement and provided a reference number for the case as: TCR1493656314549.
The Minority also wishes to observe that, note has been taken of the interest shown in this matter by Ghana's Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) after receiving a petition from a private citizen and assures that the investigations being conducted by the United States regulatory body will not conflict nor undermine CHRAJ's investigation.
The Minority takes this opportunity to re-emphasize our commitment and cooperation in assisting with both investigations in any way we can in the supreme national interests of Ghana and the United States of America.
Signed,
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu
(Minority Leader)

I will make sure these NDC minority MPs especially Haruna and Ablakwa never come to power again. How can you report to US people when this is a soverign issue in Ghana.
Is is a shame that no less a body than the legislature of Ghana goes to a US entity to complain over something that has NOTHING to do with them. This is a BIG DISGRACE.
These air head NDC gooons. SMH
@ Isa Watala, you know them well
ONE S.TUPID OPPOSITION INDEED
it is nice to realise that now NDC is all for probity and accountability. Very soon every activity of the NDC would be passed through the ably comp of the special prosecutor.Let us all wait and see those who would be left standing
OH MR OKUZETO, America company will never get them self with conflict of interest, if we talk about white people, this countries are WHITE, UK, GERMANY, FRANCE CANADA,HOLLAND, JAPAN AMERICA, DENMARK, SWITZERLAND, this countries don't get them self with any scandal because they know it will came out at the end of the year, because they do things right, that is why is too expensive, (a 1 million $ house in USA is about 2 million in CANADA) Mexicans builders are pay less in America to build, and in Canada, Canadians build the house them self, USA has more problem in their house when the whether change, this white people I called them don't play with money and tax, if you own them 1$ they will post a letter that cost 1.89cent to get the 1$, Americans are 100 time more the Kennedy Agyapong, they don't care how rich you are, if you like let Bill Gate get him self with any scandle , he will go to jail, they don't care how much you bring into the country, this goes to this countries I called white, if they make 1 mistake, the loss 100, did you see what happen to VW, OKUZETO you don't even have certificate, as for iddrisu he has PHD from NDC
Clearly not in national interest. Wish you had done same with SADA et al.
CHRAJ and now SEC? Does the SEC have any jurisdiction over Ghana? Why don't they report it to the International Criminal court so Ken Ofori Attah can be arrest for crimes against humanity? My NDC is not serious and for me it is really sad that we are using Haruna Iddrisu (a man who is highly respected) for this dirty work. Look at what Mahama has done to our party which was so formidable a few years ago. The party now has no identity and ideology. We came to power as social democrats and turned into property grabbing kleptomaniacs when Mahama came into office. The party needs a total overhaul and rebranding but I doubt whether the current leadership is wise enough to see this. As Chenua Achebe said, " He who the gods wants to destroy, the first make m.ad". The gods have made NDC m.ad, destruction is inevitable.
These n.d.c has nothing to offer. They are just biting about the ***barred word*** calling u,s to what?. They will NEVER come to power.
