President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has suspended the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Upper Denkyira West in the Central Region, Daniel Appianing from office.
The suspension of the DCE comes on the heels of some disparaging remarks he made regarding the murder of the late Military Captain Maxwell Mahama.
He has been directed to hand over to the Deputy Central Regional Minister, Thomas Adjei Baffoe.
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development upon the instructions of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo issued a letter to that effect.
The DCE, commenting on the murder of the late Military Captain, said he was the leader of a military detachment to the area to protect illegal miners and purported his death may have occurred due to his involvement in illegal mining (galamsey).
The late Capt. Mahama of the 5th Infantry Battalion was heading a Military detachment deployed to the community three weeks ago.
More to follow soon.
