The Electoral Commission has decided to go back to its original logo which bears the Coat of Arms and has a ballot box showing the hand casting its vote.
The EC under the leadership of Madam Charlotte Osei, changed the logo in 2016 to a multi-coloured one because according to her, "we do not represent the authority of the state. We are more than the ballot box. Our mandate is beyond just the ballot box as we’ve explained and we believe that the Coat of Arms does not speak to the independence, legal and functional independence of the commission.”
However, a memo dated December 4, 2018 and signed by Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa, indicated that with effect from today, the original logo has been restored.
In the memo, which had the subject, "Restoration of Original Logo of the Electoral Commission," "the core values of the Electoral Commission, namely integrity, Fairness and Accountability have from today also been restored."
"All communications from the Electoral Commission must from today, be made on the letterhead bearing the original logo of the Commission as appears on the face of this letterhead. Reams of letterheads are to be picked up from the stores of the Commission," it said.
"Kindly ensure that the most recent logo is removed from the buildings and properties of the Commission. This will subsequently be replaced. Let the bells of Accountability, Fairness and Integrity ring throughout the Commission. May God bless us all. Thank you," it concluded.

Oh my goodness there is so much power in the Coat of Arms and looking at the two logos now it is like we sold our sovereignty to another spirit with the fraudulent Charlotte Osei's logo. I want to commend you Madam Chairperson for this restoration, KUDOS!
why did the previous EC changed the logo?, Afari Djan was there for how many years? he never changed anything. I am a woman but there are certain positions that are not supposed to be given to women. Why should they touch the logo?
Charlotte Osei must be charged for Causing Financial Loss. I was unnecessary action. Nobody whatsoever had any problem with the logo ever since it was used at the inception of the 4th Republic and perhaps beyond. I was uncalled for for Charlotte to take that action, if not to heighten her corrupt practices in procurement.
