Member of Parliament for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency and Chairman for the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh says he will step down as an MP, if North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is able to provide evidence that government has made payment for the Oslo property.
He says he cannot fathom why the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs committee wants to be deceiving the public.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he disclosed Okudzeto Ablakwa is becoming a nuisance to Parliament.
"As an honorable member, you should be careful and mindful of what you say. He is gradually becoming a disgrace to Parliament and that he should be careful of what he is going about saying.
“The office of a Member of Parliament is not cheap, but our brother day in day out is cheapening this office. It’s a source of worry to some of us,” Mr. Annor-Dompreh stated.
The NPP MP was bemused why Hon Ablakwa, who is a Ranking Member of the committee could impugn criminality and corruption on the part of the Foreign Minister who he said has been cooperative and transparent on the subject matter.
“If the Minister had an intent for defrauding the state, she wouldn’t have displayed all these figures to us. The so called 16.5 million dollars is the offeree’s offer being put on the table. It has not been accepted so it cannot become a binding agreement,” he explained.
In his view, Ablakwa is beginning to show bad faith in his interaction with the committee, adding “We don't know what he is seeking to achieve” with what he termed "falsehood being peddled by the MP".
Hon Ablakwa who is the MP for North Tongu on Monday revealed government was buying a six-bedroom apartment for a chancery in Oslo, Norway, at the cost of 12 million dollars, an amount he suggested was inflated.
He presented some documents to the Speaker of Parliament to ground his claim but the Speaker shot down the tendering of the documents on the basis they were inadmissible.
Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway strongly rejected the claim by the MP and insisted that the government only expressed interest and “has not signed any agreement to purchase the said properties”.

The Ghanaians are not small boys or girls. Nobody or Okudzeto never said,Ghana bought or spend on the property. HE HAS BLOWN THE WHISTLE ON YOUR INEPTITUDE, NOT BEING THOROUGH. HAD HE NOT OF HIS INTERVENTION ,PARLIAMENT WOULD HAVE APPROVED THIS BOGUS AND FOCTITIUOS TRANSACTION. IF THERE HAS BEEN ANY MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING, WHAT WAS THE SECTOR MINISTER ABROGATING? God is watching.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari writes: We went to the same Law School: what did you learn? Must politics make us throw away our principles – even established legal principles and precepts? How could she mislead Ghanaians that the Ghana Government has entered into no contractual relations with the vendor of the now infamously over-bloated Oslo Chancery property? But the facts are clear. Government officials had visited the property and after negotiations had agreed on the consideration which is the cost of the property at 12 Million USD. The said officials, designated by the Hon Foreign Minister Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, had presented a report approving of the suitability of the property in question for use and in the same report recommended it for purchase. So, in all the noisy shouting battles and the attempt to deceive the good people of Ghana, my question is this: why did Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stop the process? Mind you, Government had accepted the offer to purchase the property at 12 Milllon Plus USD. In fact, Ghana Government was so interested, that it had requested some changes to be made to the property and permits to be sought from the Norwegian Government that would allow the property to be used as a Chancery! It is funny that with all the bogus attempts to defend the indefensible, Government has still not provided, to the good people of Ghana, any communication indicating Government’s refusal to purchase the over-bloated property. And lest I forget, the Ministry of Finance had approved of the request and allocated resources for same! What we all took away from the Law School, Hon. Ursula Owusu is this: When there is a firm offer and a firm acceptance and the intention of the parties to the Contract are firmly exhibited through their interactions and communications, then you CANNOT deny that Government of Ghana was clearly committed to buying the said property! And that huge sums of Tax Payers money have already been committed to the process. Why borrow 50 million USD from SG-SSB and expend a colossal portion of it to purchasing just one property? President Nana Akufo-Addo as Candidate promised Ghanaians that he was coming to protect the public purse. Ghanaians take words seriously. He should too. Happy blessed Sunday and a Merry Christmas to you all!! God bless our Homeland Ghana And make our Nation great and strong!!
This is what they did when they were in government. He is dreaming the same thing is going on since that was the order of the day in the NDC government. Don't forget the proverb in Akan "He who cut throats is scared to lie supine"
Ablakwa never said government paid money for the deal anywhere. Stop putting words in his mouth. He only whispered something for the powers that be must be aware of.
Lies will cost this MP reputation one day.
Ablakwa you are indeed a hero keep it up
Only ghana that MPs talk anyhow.
This Ablakwa guy is a complete fraud to Ghanaians, what a joke we have in parliament.
