Peacefmonline.com can confirm that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pulled out of the ongoing bye-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, confirmed the news in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" a few minutes ago.
An emotionally-charged Ofosu Ampofo stressed that the "NDC cannot sit on the fence and watch its members to lose their lives" because of an election.
He claims there are "several blood stains" at the polling center near the NDC's candidate residence.
Though he stopped short of identifying members of the NDC who have been shot at, Hon Ofosu Ampofo pointed out that the victims were at their candidate’s residence to assist the party’s activities for the day.
"...we can no longer guarantee the security of our people and our polling agents...We have conferred with our candidate who is also so traumatized that he cannot even come out of his house....We also do not believe a single life should be lost in this by-election so we have withdrawn from the process," he stated.
NDC Will Accept The Results If,
In a related development, the opposition party says should their candidate be declared winner of the bye-elections, they will accept the results.
A leading member of the NDC, the Eastern Regional Secretary, Mark Kevor-Oliver told Kwami Sefa Kayi, whiles contributing to a panel discussion on Kokrokoo Thursday that, "eventhough their National Chairman has called for a boycott of the polls, a decision all members of the party subscribe to, in the event that Delali K. Brempong comes out on top in the bye-election at the end of the day, the NDC will accept the results."
Shots Fired
Meanwhile, 7 people suffered gun-shot wounds at the Bawaleshie Presbyterian school where voting was underway following an impasse over the polls earlier in the day.
Close to 90,000 voters are expected to cast their ballot in the by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat became vacant following the death of the Member of Parliament for that constituency, Kyeremanteng Agyarko on November 21, 2018.

Look at it, pulling what? out, you should pull out of 2020 elections instead.
Has Ofosu Ampofo forgotten about Atiwa, Chereponi and Talensi? Did anybody boycott the elections at the time? Ofosu Ampofo has failed BIG TIME as Chairman of the NDC. He was confused with his pronouncement at a stage he says he is withdrawing his party officials because he cannot guarantee their safety, the NDC is boycotting the elections. He is the most confused political party chairman. Even election of Presidential Candidate within his own party he cannot manage it.
And this fr-au-d calls himself a christian and a church elder. No cred1b1lity, full of l1£s and abho-re-nt t--wa-t of a person. NDC has cl0wn$ leading their party. May they rot in opposition.
Ah!am lost,was he wearing bulletproof?
oh my party oh be that oh. if you declare as winners we will accept but for now we are on boycott. we have withdrawn koraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
NDC is losing all the few intellectuals in their party. Give us a message that can convince us and stop waisting ur time on these childish schemes.
ediots who cares about you withdrawing from the election, you know very well you will loose so you are using this evil tactics to withdraw. Ghanaians ignore this nation wreckers they have nothing to offer.
I heard this Guy shouting this morning as if he was talking from the roof-top, on the Peace Fm Krokooko, justifying the NDC siiiiily boycott of the bye-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. NDC, as a Political Party seems, has exhausted its intellectual capability and competence. It is failing abysmally in terms of being democratically competent enough to demonstrate her potential and important role as an alternative Government in opposition. Within her own yard of the inner-Party elections, there are always allegations of rigging. No wonder a Party founded by Rawlings with his blood couldn't have just presented anything worthy of a fair Democratic Value. Then, NDC as a Party is just too diabolic and bloody in tradition and always wants political power by any foul means. Asem s€ b€!
How can a hold Elder of a big church lies the hold Ghana. hmmmmmmmm
If your NDC members can disrupt a chairman's press conference why can't same members cause trouble at the polling stations? NDC this country is not for you so you better stop this cheap propaganda. Even 6 out of your own presidential aspirants are crying over your electoral register and you are here joking.
