Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has said he does not feel safe in the country, adding that, he does not trust the Ghana police service either.
The lawmaker’s comments come after he was assaulted by a well-built man believed to be from the national security in Accra during Thursday’s Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
Sam George was slapped in the face after series of gunshots at the La-Bawaleshie Presby JHS polling station caused a commotion.
Reacting to his assault on Class FM on Thursday, 31 January 2019, he said he does not feel safe in the country.
Mr George said: “The police were present when the assault was going on and they did nothing. The police itself has also stated clearly that they are unaware of the people who were using their vehicle. So, if the police cannot protect their own armoured personnel and the police were armed and I was being assaulted and the police did not deem it necessary to intervene, I cannot trust that police service to do any kind of investigation.”
Asked if he felt safe, Mr George said: “I’ll not lie about this, I do not feel safe in this country today. The shock and disbelieve that men who were in National Security Council attire, heavily armed in Ghana police vehicle, the Police Service of Ghana says they don’t know who they are. These men attacked me. When I was being attacked, a media man said: ‘that’s an MP’ and the guy said and so what? And the Police of Ghana, over 20 of them, armed, stood by and watched. Just imagine that a police officer in U.S will attack a senator, that’s impossible.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu has directed the Director-General/Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to speed up investigations into the cause of the shooting.

A US Senator will not misbehave.
How can a US senator also behave the way u did. A US senator will be discipline. U are not
being an mp or a senator does not prevent anyone from beating you when you provoke them. the next person is Sammy gyamfi.
Ghana police next person is Sammy Gyamfi and I know where he is
That serves him right. Sam George think the like of them are above the law. No way! Next time you should expect bigger slaps that those you received today.Lawless parliamentarian.
THE AZOKA BOYS HAD BEEN BROUGHT FOR WIDESPREAD DISRUPTION OF THE BY-ELECTION. THEY WOULD HAVE GONE VIRAL TO THE POLLING STATIONS TO ATTACK PEOPLE AND SNATCH BALLOT BOXES. THE STORY AT THE END OF THE DAY WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE SEE NOW. THE ELECTION WOULD HAVE BECOME FIASCO. THE INTELLIGENCE ON THE GROUND INDICATES THAT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN NO ELECTION AS SOME IN NDC HAD WISHED AND PLANNED TO DO. THE SECURITY FORCES PICKED THE PLAN AND HAD TO MOVE FAST IN THE MORNING TO FOIL THE DIABOLIC PLAN. THEIR ACTION MIGHT APPEAR BIZARRE BUT IT WAS NECESSARY FOR THE SECURITY FORCES TO ACT IMMEDIATELY TO SAVE THE ELECTION AND LIVES OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE BECOME VICTIMS TO THE EVIL AGENDA IF IT HAD NOT BEEN NIP IN THE BUD.
NO USA SENATOR WOULD BEHAVE THE MANNER, YOU SAM GEORGE, DID BEFORE SECURITY AGENCIES INSULTING AND THROWING OUT HANDS.
Too bad. But for you, please relocate to the US and see if you can put up your behaviour there
When on earth will an US senator behave this way? The security officers were even soft on you. Next time.........
Sam George, are u comparing your status to a US Senator? Ah Sam George paa!! How? Please note that you can never ever become a US Senator that's one, and only in that your constituency that a guy like you who doesn't have any life experience could be a parliamentarian and for that matter NDC
