Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has said he does not feel safe in the country, adding that, he does not trust the Ghana police service either.
The lawmaker’s comments come after he was assaulted by a well-built man believed to be from the national security in Accra during Thursday’s Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
Sam George was slapped in the face after series of gunshots at the La-Bawaleshie Presby JHS polling station caused a commotion.
Reacting to his assault on Class FM on Thursday, 31 January 2019, he said he does not feel safe in the country.
Mr George said: “The police were present when the assault was going on and they did nothing. The police itself has also stated clearly that they are unaware of the people who were using their vehicle. So, if the police cannot protect their own armoured personnel and the police were armed and I was being assaulted and the police did not deem it necessary to intervene, I cannot trust that police service to do any kind of investigation.”
Asked if he felt safe, Mr George said: “I’ll not lie about this, I do not feel safe in this country today. The shock and disbelieve that men who were in National Security Council attire, heavily armed in Ghana police vehicle, the Police Service of Ghana says they don’t know who they are. These men attacked me. When I was being attacked, a media man said: ‘that’s an MP’ and the guy said and so what? And the Police of Ghana, over 20 of them, armed, stood by and watched. Just imagine that a police officer in U.S will attack a senator, that’s impossible.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu has directed the Director-General/Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to speed up investigations into the cause of the shooting.

You're lucky Sam George! You were aggressive and disrespectful. Indeed you deserve that minimal force to bring you back to your sense. You're too dramatic! Ningo Prampram Drama King!
Good question. Now you know you don't deserve public off. You were ranting uncontrollable until you were asked to have patient. Why would you turn back charging at a person who might be telling to 'cool down'. And the person seem to be part of the police. It means you did not heed the request from the police. Act like that towards the police in the US? Take a guess what would have happened. A slap would have been the least, and you might not have been worrying.
Sam the answer to your question is "No". And this is because there is no senator in the US as ***barred word*** as you are. And nobody in the US will ever vote for a character like you to become a senator. If you are feeling unsafe in Ghana just leave. The country will surely be better off without you. When you were harassing people in Pampram with soldiers because you were in power, then you did not cry that you were feeling unsafe.
Can a senator shout at a police man,FBI agent in USA.We have seen your video misbehaving so the slap is just to match your uncivilized behaviour. Next time it will be a bullet into your coconut heads that contains only water.
A Senator in the US does not behave the way you behave. Looks like the slap has worried you paa.
I dont know much, but some few years ago, a female MP was beaten by a colleague MP's boys. So in Ghana, everything is possible. Keep up and let the police do their work.
where in US can you shout like you were doing
