President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly damned the acts of violence that occurred during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on Thursday, 31 January 2019.
He however described the act as “unfortunate” in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com.
“The isolated incident of violence, which occurred in the early stages of the election, was unfortunate and regrettable, and I condemn it in no uncertain terms.” The president noted
A group of macho men clad in national security attires fired gun into a crowd of voters at the La-Bawaleshie JHS polling station injuring seven persons.
This led to the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) pulling out of the election.
President Nana addo who expressed worry about the situation which saw his candidate won noted that “A by-election should be a peaceful and happy event, no matter how competitive”
