National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP), Sammi Awuku, says his party is ready to meet their opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to dialogue on how to disband party militias.
According to him, in the interest of the country, the NPP will extend the first gesture to decide the way forward as far as vigilantism is concerned.
He said the NPP is in full support of clamping down on the lawless activities of vigilante groups in the country.
“For the interest of our country, we shall invite them as a party then we see the way forward because they are the beneficiaries of these political vigilantes. We welcomed the President’s call and ready to dialogue with the NDC” he said on Asempa FM Friday.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while presenting the 2019 State of the Nation Address, Thursday, called on the leadership of the two main political parties, the NDC and NPP to help find a lasting solution to the menace of political vigilantism in Ghana.
He warned that should the political parties fail to reach an agreement on how to chart a path to end vigilantism, he will initiate legislation that will curb their (vigilante groups) activities.
