The General Secretary of the Progressive People's Party [PPP], Murtala Mohammed, has described former President John Dramani Mahama’s 95.24% of votes in the party’s just ended flagbearereship contest as a sit-up call for the party in power.
He said the former President’s 95.24 percent of votes shows that the 2020 elections will be keenly contested between the NDC and NPP, only if Mahama will get the other six flagbearer contestants genuinely on board to support him.
“In factual terms I am against former President Mahama’s comeback to contest for President, because I see no reason . . . when there are other international or state assignments he can support the government of the day with due to his political career built over the years,” he said while speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political discussion segment.
According to him he was amazed about the votes polled by the former President.
“I was expecting a 75% win for former president Mahama, therefore his current percentage margin of winning is above my imagination. Former President Mahama has sent a big statement to the NPP ahead of the 2020 elections,” he said.
He said the NPP want to create an impression as if they careless about former President Mahama’s comeback, but he believes that it is a very big sit-up call to them.
“I am telling you that if you can make 95% votes in an internal organized election, it means that all things being equal you can win the general elections, if you put up a leadership behavior,” he said.

Mutuala Mohammed and his Party Founder should concentrate on coughing out clients of GN Bank and Gold Coast Security's money to and leave the NPP and the NDC to do their politics.
PPP man please think about your the statement to your party, if just party executives can give Mahama more than 10 tomes your party's total vote in a national election then why are you wasting all your time following Nduom? Think outside the box for once.
JM got 95.24% from his party, the Ndc and if Nana Addo gets 98% from his party, the Npp, what would you say then? Anyway this govt is on cause to win the 2020 elections one touch. Once again John Mahama and the Ndc will lose miserably.
It means nothing ! JM killed his former boss Atta Mills & his former vice died under very suspicious circumstances last year. He & Asiedu Nketia have ejected the ndc founder from the party to the extent that the party’s founder’s wife has formed her own party !! It was a one horse race !!! All otter potential formidables camps have been assassinsted from the NDC ! Finally Emminent & really respectable senior citizens are not interested in fronting for the NDC ... No statement has been made !! The NDC is bereft of alternatives !!
