The meeting between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Samuel Ofosu -Ampofo, and CID officials at the Police Headquarters has been postponed again.
Lawyer for the opposition party Chair, Abraham Amaliba who was at the Police CID office on Friday, says his client is bereaved and that he could not meet with the Police as planned.
“We require some more time to honour the invitation,” he said.
It is the second time the meeting has been rescheduled after Mr. Ampofo failed to show up on Thursday as was widely reported.
Earlier, his counsel Victor Kwadwo Adawudu had disclosed on Okay FM's ‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme that his client will appear before the police CID today (Friday)
However, the opposition party chair did not show up again on Friday as agreed with the police compelling his lawyers to enter another negotiation with the police officers to reschedule the meeting.
“Due to some circumstances our chairman could not make it so we came in here to plead with the police to give us some time to be able to come with our client,” Mr. Amaliba told the media.
He added that the police have reschedule another meeting, “however, they will get back to us with the [new] date and time,” he added.
Background
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo had been invited by the CID over leaked taped in which a voice believed to be his, was heard making very damning comments in an alleged meeting with party members.
Mr Ofosu Ampofo in the tape revealed that party militia groups were brought to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election by both parties – NPP and NDC.
Contrary to earlier claims, the Chairman is heard saying that members of NDC-aligned militia group, Azorka Boys, were brought from Tamale to the constituency.
These and the many other comments heard on the tape sparked outrage and the Police proceeded to request the presence of the Chairman.
Subsequently, a letter dated February 27, invited the Chairman to the CID office on Thursday at 10:00 am but he never showed up.

Ghana police, you have an image to redeem. With allegations of corruption, political party allegiance, unprofessional behaviour and attitude, and many more against the profession, you better expedite action to deal with this treasonable statement by Ofosu-Ampofo. Ghanaians are watching!
IT IS ONLY FOR GHANA CID THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE TOO BIG TO BE ARRESTED. IT IS THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE AND THIS DISCRIMINATION THAT MAKE MANY GHANAIANS TO MISTRUST GHANA POLICE. YOU BEND THE RULE TO FAVOR POLITICAL CRIMINALSSS WHO AT THE SAME TIME TURN AROUND TO CONDEMN YOU AS INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL. YOU PURSUE TO ARREST THE POOR ZONGO BOY WHO IS MANIPULATED BY THE POLITICAL HIGH CLASS TO COMMIT A CRIME BUT YOU TREAT THE POLITICIANS WHO MASTERMIND THE CRIME WITH KID'S GLOVES. PLEASE GHANA CID BE SERIOUS FOR ONCE, HOW DO YOU ALLOW OFOSU AMPOFO TO BE WALKING AROUND FOR HIS ALLEGED CRIME ON THE BASIS OF BEING BELIAVED. HOW IS IT RELATED TO NII OKRAN. THEN HE WILL NEVER BE ARRESTED BECAUSE EVERY NDC IS RELATED TO HIM AND EVERYDAY SEVERAL NDCs DIE IN GHANA. AND BY WHAT LAW IN GHANA THAT DEMANDS THAT A BEREAVED CRIMINALLL CANNOT BE ARRESTED. PLEASE BE SERIOUS FOR ONCE. YOU ALLOW YOURSELVES TO BE MISUSED BY THE POLITICIANS WHO AT THE SAME TIME PORTRAY YOU IN THE PUBLIC EYES AS INCOMPETENT. YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF YOUR OWN WOES. ACT NOW AND SHOW YOURSELVES CAPABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY FOR YOUR OFFICE. ELSEWHERE IN AMERICA SUCH ATTITUDE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. LOOK AT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MICHAEL COHEN. GHANA CID RISE ABOVE THIS ATTITUDE OF DISCRIMINATION AND INACTION IN FAVOR OF POLITICIANS. DO TO OFOSU AMPOFO AS YOU DID TO MONTIE 3.
