Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has admitted to comments made in a video currently being circulated on social media.
In the said viral video which was recorded on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, the Education Minister, popularly called Napo said: “We in Ghana see it as imperative that sexuality education should be part of the curricula that we will launch in September this year from Kindergarten (KG) to Senior High School (SHS).”
However, at a press conference held on Tuesday, October 1 to address various controversies that have emerged after Ghanaians got wind of the fact that CSE was being added to the curriculum, the Education Minister denied the above statement.
“As of this morning, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has not approved any material on CSE as it is not included in the published curriculum and curriculum framework. One hundred and fifty-two thousand (152,000) teachers have been trained for the new curriculum which started in September and no teacher was trained on CSE,” Mr Opoku Prempeh said.
But speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo', Dr Opoku Prempeh admitted the content of the video was true, adding, "but I wasn’t the only person there. It was discussed but not approved. The ones that were approved would be taken through as the curriculum. It is not everything that government agrees to. We cannot be forced to accept anything we don’t want to accept."
He further noted that even though CSE was in the teacher's training manual, it is not part of the current curriculum.

If not for political reasons why should be an issue. These kinds are already being taped and molested in homes, churches, communities etc. yet society is silent about these atrocities being meted out to these poor kids. Yet when issues of such nature crops up we put on our holier than thou attitude and demonstrate our hypocrisy including our ignorance. Anyways, very soon the four-cornered classroom will be a thing of the past. We will all be hone-schooling our kids. So why worry!
Who told you CSE is not in the curriculum? Why did you add it to the English reading books to be read during EXTENSIVE READING time in the new curriculum.. Liar
WHAT EMBARRASSMENT WITH YOUR U TURN
Hahaha. Did you hear him? He said for certainty. "even though we will get there, we haven't gone there, yet." Shame on you Mr. Education Minister. Jesus said, "whatever is hidden in darkness will be revealed in broad daylight." What is in the man's heart has come out. He went to tell the Swedish people to have patience and wait, because eventually Ghanaians will give in. Please Mr. Minister, send the money you collected back. The world has changed.
Truth is only ONE. How can we trust these people?
