The President HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is set to deliver his state of the Nation Address in Parliament.
The delivery of the SONA is in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which requires the President of the Republic to give an account of the performance of the ruling Government in the past year and make a projection of how the nation would perform in the coming year.
This will be President Akufo-Addo’s fourth since assuming the reigns of power in 2017, following an overwhelming electoral victory of more than one million votes in December 2016.
The SoNA is normally characterized by antics by both the Majority and Minority will also experience same today.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia programme, former Energy Minister and MP foe Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah explained that "members of the minority will all be in a black attire", adding that this "represents and reflects the true state of the people of Ghana."
"The Minority (in Parliament) has the people of Ghana at heart and we represent their interest and so we are telling the president with our black attire that the people of Ghana are not interested in his kind of government and leadership," he stated.
The address is to afford the President the opportunity to account for his stewardship over the last one year and also project the plans of the government for the coming year.
The President’s address is expected to be heavy on the economy, and how the government intends to ensure its growth to help citizens.
Sectors such as education, agriculture, health and the economy in general, are also expected to feature prominently.

THE BOYCOTT OF MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT SHOULD NOT SURPRISE ANYBODY. IT WAS MEANT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE SHAME OF MAHAMA. IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE AIRBUS SCANDAL. MAHAMA IS DISTINCTIVELY SUGGESTED TO BE THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL ONE OF THE SCANDAL AND HIS BROTHER AS INTERMEDIARY 5. EVER SINCE THE SCANDAL BROKE OUT MAHAMA HAS FAILED TO DENY IT. SINCE SILENCE MEANS CONSENT MANY BELIEVE STRONGLY THAT MAHAMA IS THE OFFICIAL 1 WHO CONNIVED WITH OTHERS TO STEALL FROM THE STATE OF GHANA. MANY IN GHANA AND OUTSIDE AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS SHARE SIMILAR VIEW ABOUT MAHAMA. THE SHAME OF THE AIRBUS SCANDAL MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR MAHAMA TO ATTEND SONA AND SIT WITH OTHER FORMER PRESIDENTS. THE DECISION OF MAHAMA NOT TO ATTEND SONA WAS TO CAUSE A TALK IN TOWN. PEOPLE WOULD HAVE ASKED WHY HE DID NOT COME AND SPECULATED. TO DIVERT ATTENTION ON THE ON MAHAMA AND THE AIBUS SCANDAL MATTER. THE NDC MPs WALK OUT ON FLIMSY EXCUSES WAS ONLY MEANT FOR DIVERSION. MAHAMA RECENT ATTACK ON EC SUPPORTED BY NDC AND THEIR BOYCOTT OF SONA ARE ALL MEANT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE AIRBUS SCANDAL.
Who are the NDC fooling? Their black attire reflects their sorry state not of Ghanaians. That now the country is moving forward and there is a leader who is not tolerating ***barred word*** from their party. An authoritarian is better than a ***barred word*** for a president.
IT WAS POLITICAL BLUNDER FOR NDC TO VACATE THEIR SEATS DURING SONA IN THE PRESENCE OF FORMER PRESIDENTS, CHIEF JUSTICE AND SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES, POLICE AND MILITARY TOP HIERARCHY, DIPLOMATIC CORPS, NANANOM, RELIGIOUS LEADERS,THE MEDIA AND REPRESENTATIVES OF VARIOUS GROUPINGS. IT PORTRAY NDC TO ALL THESE PEOPLE GATHERED AS A PARTY OF INDISCIPLINED MPS AND INDIVIDUALS. NDC CAN WALK OUT AT ANY TIME BUT NOT IN THE PRESENCE TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE. THEY HAVE SHOWN THEMSELVES TO ALL AS UNREASONABLEEE, IMATUREEE AND DISRESPECTFULL TO GHNANA AND ALL GATHERED. I DON'T KNOW WHO ADVISES NDC THEY ARE MAKING THEIR PARTY UNPOPULAR TO ALL RIGHT THINKING PEOPLE. NPP WILL NEVER DO THIS. THEY CAN BE ANGRY AS WELL BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS GET ONE WISEMAN TO ADVISE THEM TO AVOID COMMUTING SUCH A BLUNDERR. NONE OF THE DIGNITARIES WHO GATHERED AT PARLIAMENT WILL TAKE NDC SERIOUS. SPIRITUALLY IT IS A BAD OMEN FOR NDC TO VACATE THEIRS SEAT. SMART AS THEY WERE, NPP QUICKLY TOOK OVER THE SEAT. SO NPP OCCUPIED BOTH MAJORITY AND MINORITY SIDES. NDC HAS SPIRITUALLY RELINQUISHED THEIR SEATS TO THE NPP MAJORITY AS WELL. NPP WILL GET MORE OF THEIR SEAT IN THE NEXT ELECTIONS. THIS MEANS EITHER NDC MAY LOOSE MORE SEATS TO NPP OR NDC MAY BOYCOTT THE 2020 ELECTION. WHATERVER THE CASE NPP WILL GET MORE SEAT AFTER 2020 ELECTIONS. AND JUST AS SONA WAS DELIVERED SMOOTHLY AND UNDISTURBED THIS TIME, SO NPP WILL GOVERN AFTER 2020 ELECTIONS SMOOTHLY AND UNDISTURBED, EVEN IF NDC BOYCOTT THE ELECTIONS. ANOTHER BAD OMEN IS THE MISSING OF MAHAMA AT THE SONA. IT MEANS MAHAMA WILL BE INCARCERATED AND DISAPPEAR IN PUBLIC IN SOME DAYS AHEAD. THE EVENTS OF THE SONA CASTS SHADOW FOR THE UNFOLDING POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
IT WILL NEVER BE THE TRUE SATE OF THE NATION. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY, PEOPLE IN GHANA. MAHAMA CAN NOT BE PRESIDENT IN GHANA AGAIN AND HE KNOWS
this show how irresponsible the mps are indeed they cant think for Ghanaians cos they only use their V8
that is a big lie, the whole world will see you as parliamentarians who are not serious about their job
The attitude of the minority boycotting the SONA 2020 by the president of the repulic of ghana is uncultral and betrayal of ghanas democracy. From this attitude of boycotting the SONA 2020, the minority cannot claim that they are representing ghanaians. After all, what is democracy? It is nothing than, listening to your opponent. If you cannot listen and you dont have the attitue of listening, then you are not credible as a politician. The attitude of the main opposition party boycotting the SONA 2020 has schocked the global world. Negative reactions from the four corners of the world. Many are raisning questions about the crdibility of the opposition memebrs in parlament. The minority have betrayed ghanaians who gave them the mandate to represent their views in the house. There is one thing that is clear in ghanaian politics, the masseses, men and women of the street of ghana are much more awake of the current political issues. Today, the minority are showing this uncultural attitude in parlament and tommorow they go back to their constituency asking for votes??? I dont think ghanaians will forgive the minortiy for such an unhealth behaviour at the SONA 2020. Remember, power is with the electorates and ghanaians will vote out such minority MPs. And NDC as a big opposition party has betrayed his supporters, and the supporters have no confidence with the party. Its a sign of lack of leadership and fabricated ideology of the party. Its a total divertion of the fundemental principles of the spirit of P.(N D C ), which many sacrificed their blood for the party. Today greedy minorities have and are turning the spirit of the party outside down resulting into unfaithfulnes, disunity, eogocentrisim, chaos, indiscipline within the party. I am sure Prof. Atta Mills will be turning round in his grave with tears and disappointment of the party that he sacrificed with service and sincerity.
hasn't the minority seen all the polls that has been going on in this country? the last poll says only 37% of Ghanaians belivee you as against 57% for the npp. i think this black is more of your state of mind than the state of Ghanaians
hahahahahaaha i hope after 2020 the NDC we see today will be no more in Ghana politics.
I think the minority MPs miss the dumsor days. Black actually represents those dumsor days.I can't laugh
