Member of Parliament(MP) for South Dayi constituency and a Member of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs committee of Parliament, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has threatened to go to court if the government goes ahead to audit the Auditor -General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo.
He says the government has no right to do so unless Parliament where the Auditor-General draws his powers from gives a go ahead.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that the Auditor-General is accountable to only parliament and they can only question the expenditure of the Auditor-General.
Quoting article 187 (15) of the 1992 constitution to state his case, he explained that by the provision of what is quoted in the constitution, the Board of the Audit Service cannot employ the services of another to audit the Auditor-General.
"If they go ahead to do it, I will be left with no other choice than to head to the Supreme Court for a proper interpretation to be done about the provision in the constitution," he said.
The Audit Service Board has appointed a private firm known as K&A Accounting Services to audit the foreign travels of the Auditor-General, as well as that of other top management staff of his office.
Although Mr. Domelevo has written to Parliament to challenge the decision, the Service Board has still not made any attempt to halt the process.
