The Supreme Court has today unanimously ruled against putting Mrs. Jean Mensa in the witness box.

Today's ruling comes after a request by Lead Counsel for the petitioner, John Mahama, in the ongoing election petition asked the court to allow Mrs. Jean Mensa to witness before the court while Lead Counsel for the Electoral Commission which is the First Respondent in the court case, Justin Amenuvor objected to presenting his client as a witness.

“ . . simply put, we are not convinced and will not yield to the invitation being extended to us by Counsel of the petitioner to order the respondents to enter the witness box to be cross-examined accordingly we hereby overrule the objection raised by the counsel for the petitioner against the decision of the respondents declining to adduce evidence in this petition," Chief Justice Anin Yeboah declared as the Supreme Court dismissed Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata's request.

The court also ordered all the parties to file their closing addresses by Wednesday, February 17 2021 and adjourned the case to Thursday, 18th February.

Responding to the election petition on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer of the Central University in Accra, kept his words very brief.

He told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh that no matter how long or short a period that the petition hearing takes, the court will surely deliver the final ruling.

To him, whatever direction the Supreme Court verdict goes for or against the petitioner, ''Ghana will remain Ghana''.

He said this urging Ghanaians to keep their fingers crossed for the Supreme Court ruling when hearing of the case is over.
