Deputy Communications Director of the ruling NPP, Mame Yaa Aboagye has slammed the opposition NDC for telling President Akufo-Addo to apologize to the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti over his reply on some statements by the Chief on an abandoned E-block Community Day SHS in his area.
According to Mame Yaa Aboagye, President Akufo-Addo is “the first gentleman of our land, hence we should accord him that respect”.
Mame Yaa further argued; “Truth hurts but why should a king give President, the Commander- in-Chief an ultimatum?…Respect is reciprocal…NDC and minority should do the honourable thing and ask the Chief to rather apologize to the President because the Chief was first to show arrogance and gross disrespect by giving the President a threat. Mind you all, the President is not a walk-over.”
The Minority in Parliament is demanding an apology and retraction from President Akufo-Addo over his response to the Paramount Chief of Aflao, Torgbui Adzonu-Gaga Amenya Fiti V, regarding the abandoned E-block during an interview on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”.
The Chief has issued an ultimatum to the Ministry of Education to operationalize the abandoned the school which has stalled since 2016.
The President, in a quick riposte, asked the Chief to complete the project himself if he is tired about the delay.
Amidst laughter, President Akufo-Addo quizzed; “Is he [the chief] the one going to give the Minister of Education an ultimatum?”
