President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reacted to a public call for him to reshuffle his appointees, especially ministers of state and says, he has no immediate plans of heeding to those calls.
To him, the output of the ministers was consistent with the expectations and therefore there is no need to reshuffle them.
For all you know, it is people who want to destabilise my government or people who are looking for jobs, who are behind those calls, he said.
President Akufo-Addo made the reaction in a radio interview with the Tamale-based Radio North Star on Monday [August 8, 2022], as part of his tour of the Northern Region this week.
"The issue of reshuffling or performance of my ministers is a daily pre-occupation, I'm required on a daily basis to ask myself whether a particular minister is up to the mark.
"I am the final authority and if they are not up to the mark, I'm required to act. So if they are up to expectations then I don't have any reason to heed to the calls for reshuffling," President Akufo-Addo said.
"...NDC wants to destabilise your government, there are people who are also looking for jobs," he said amidst laughter.
I'm not disputing that there is quite a lot of attention there, but I also think that there is a need for us to have rather a holistic look at matters relating to reshuffling of ministers and other government appointees.

y3ntie obiaa y3ntie obiaaa da. Y3h dia wo ho b3to. The man never board trotro in his life before so how can he understand when he can't relate #2024
Akuffo Addo has disappointed majority of Ghanaians about how he has ruled the country.Ghanaians have regretted voting for him and I think majority of NPP supporters know their party will lose the 2024 elections.
Because of Akuffo Addo style of governance and not heeding to the calls of majority of Ghanaians to reshuffle his government,NPP is going to Lose the 2024 election massively. It is going to be an easy win for NDC come 2024.
If the president says he's satisfied with the performance of his some of his ministers, then he's not on top of issues. If you have a finance minister who comes out banking his hopes on a tax policy which can easily be avoided legally he doesn't deserve to be a finance minister. The E-levy is a tax that can be easily avoided legally, if i don't send money to another person electronically i won't pay E-levy, it's that simple. Today same finance minister is saying he's only getting 10% of the projected revenue from E-levy and you say you are satisfied with his performance? You have a roads minister who comes out to suspend payment of road tolls when no driver has come out to kick against payment of the tolls, so who's taxes is the minister expecting to use to fund road projects? Currently long vehicles from Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger cross into Ghana's ports, load all kinds of goods and use our roads free of charge, in the meantime Ghana's vehicles that cross into these countries pay road tolls in and out and you say you are satisfied with the performance of such a person. Today criminals are bold enough to attack bullion vans right in the centre of Accra in broad daylight, that the capital ooooo not to talk of rural areas and you have an interior minister presiding over such a messy situation and you say you are satisfied with him? God save us. Today if you are traveling to any part of Ghana and your family and friends wishes you safe journey, they are wishing you safety from armed robbers not vehicle accident and you are happy with this. Then you can best be described as a laisser faire president, everyone for himself, God for us all. Even the Ronaldo's , Messi's , Sadio Mane's and Mohammed Salah's are sometimes substituted. Maybe Covid 19 and the Russia vrs Ukraine match is the to blame for your inability to shift your players. Like the Vulture, you will only get to know the importance of a nest after you have been heavily beaten by rain. Hahahaaaa.
I don't get this man at all, assuming without admitting that people looking for jobs are those behind the scenes pushing you for a reshuffle, what is the guarantee that you will appoint them as ministers since ministerial appointments are the prerogative of the president, if that is your thinking then it doesn't add up. Some of your cabinet ministers who are also MP's have forgotten that the cabinet minister position is for the region from which they hail, unfortunately some are using their positions to concentrate on their constituencies alone, if you are not from his constituency, forget of any assistance. Meanwhile in some of these constituencies , NPP has never won the presidential elections there. In a multi ethnic region, cabinet ministers are supposed to carry everyone along but some of your appointees are very ethnocentric, they can't see beyond their tribe but left to their tribe alone, NPP will never produce a president for them to be appointed ministers. So it's not necessarily about their work in their various ministries but more importantly their relationship with other tribes in the region. Anyway meat that has fat will prove it by the heat of fire, 2024 will come and it will come. We shall see
Hahahaaaa, Mr president, reshuffle does not necessarily mean sacking your ministers. Interchanging the positions of a members of a team is what people are asking you to do. To say people looking for positions in your government are those championing this call is a nonstarter. Former president kufour did not sack you when he moved you from the attorney general and Justice ministry to foreign affairs. For close to 6 years running you have same ministers for finance, foreign affairs, interior, defence, agriculture, trade, roads, health, national security, transport. What knew ideas can they bring in again. With this singular statement you have given your ministers all the space they need to do what pleases them knowing very well you can't do anything to them. The 2017 elephant is completely different from the J A Kufuor 2001 elephant. The current elephant has big ears as usual, unfortunately it doesn't listen, at best it hears but won't listen. The president is behaving as if he doesn't care about a future NPP after his exit. If Kufuor was behaving same, you will not have come to meet a formidable and vibrant NPP to ride on to power. Anyway the ball is in your court, play it as it pleases you. On 7 December, 2024 the people will also do what pleases them. Remember it's Ghanaians that made you a president, you didn't make them to be voters, yooooooo. If you were to hand over to John Mahama in January 2025, how will you feel, that John Mahama with all his alleged incompetence is still better than you? Think carefully about this seriously.
President Nana Addo has low IQ indeed. How many people are looking for jobs as ministers in your already bloated government? Does re-shuffle necessarily mean new faces? It could just mean taking a struggling Minister in one mammoth ministry to a ministry with less workload. E.g from finance to religion and cheiftancy.
That's a perfect response from His Excellency!
