Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe, an executive assistant to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has challenged two aides of former President John Dramani Mahama to deny receipt of August 2022 salaries.
His challenge stems from recent comments by the former president to the effect that he has been taking care of his own expenses including those covered under his emoluments as an ex-Head of State.
“I receive only my monthly pension, like President Kufuor or President Rawlings was receiving until he died. That is all I get.
“I pay the electricity bill for my house, for my office. I pay the water bill for my house and my office. I live in my own accommodation so the state does not pay me anything for accommodation.
“They haven’t given me an office, I rent an office in East Cantonments, I pay the rent myself, I pay for my own fuel, the state doesn’t give me fuel. I pay my own domestic staff, I pay my own medical bills. I pay for my own air tickets when I travel,” he added in a September 12 interview on Accra-based TV3.
Reacting to Mahama's claims, Teiko Tagoe posted on his Facebook page (September 13) a Ghana government payment voucher for August 2022 which outlined the salary payment details of 12 people believed to be staff of a former president.
Among those listed are Felix Kwakye Ofosu and Joyce Bawah Mogtari, senior aides to John Dramani Mahama.
"And where is that Felix Kwakye Ofosu? I thought your boss, Former President John Dramani Mahama said he’s been paying you and Joyce Bawah Mogtari or this is a case of another double salary?" the presidential staffer captioned his post.

I RECIEVE ONLY MONTHLY PENSION. If you have been receiving monthly pension why you want to come back again. The understanding I'm getting is that you have retired from active service, So why come back again. Full of deceit and hypocrisy.
@G, is it difficult to understand that this August payment shows an up to date payment information? Is it possible to skip those years and pay only August 2022? No wonder you are a follower of Mahama.
JDM is being economical with the truth, it will be dangerous to entrust the country to his hands as per the records from the Jubilee house everything is paid to him. The records are there to justify the claim.
Absolute ***barred word*** JDM left office in 2017 so if u pay someone in 2022 u make that a case what about 2017 till de august 2022 ***barred word*** people he Mahama spoke about him self why not address his own have u been taking care of what the constitution mandate u to do for a former president but nana will suffer same mark my words he will treat himself with his own money no wonder he is stealing left right and centre
So Mahama is not on top of issues relating the small office he runs. How can he still think of becoming a President again? Master, Ghana problems are big hence I suggest you enjoy your handsome pension. This is embarrassing. Perhaps, he suffers from ***barred word*** syndrome.
He goes round telling people that times are hard and turn round collect all these monies. Shaaaaame. Mr Ford Taker
listening to a man who before he became president was an average joe moans and whine about all inadequacies the luxuries he enjoys from the state gives is mind boggling and nau$eating. John butter-won't melt mahama is a sp0ilt bra+. How a man once respected has becoming such an 1ngrate is beyond belief. I pay for my rent and utility bills and so what? What else do you want?
Why are our leaders so greedy and heartless to the ordinary poor Ghanaian? If the state will have to foot all your bills and pay your salaries as if you are in active service, then why take the huge ex-gratia after your tenure of office. Our system is indeed not fair to the ordinary Ghanaian and the less privilege.
