Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has stressed the need for aspiring parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intensify their campaigns to make the party's determination of breaking the eight year electoral jinx a reality.
He said they should not sit aloof thinking that the filing of nominations to contest the party's parliamentary primaries was the end of their focus to become legislators.
Mr Osafo-Maafo, who is the chairman of of the Akyem Oda constituency NPP election committee, made the call when the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah filed his nomination on Monday.
Mr Akwasi Acquah pulled an extremely huge crowd who paraded the principal streets of Oda wearing specially designed 'T' shirts of the MP singing and dancing amid brass band music before finally converging at the premises of the Oda constituency NPP office for the MP and his campaign team to file the nomination around 11.30 a.m.
Mr Osafo-Maafo said winning the 2024 general election was a herculean task which needed the concerted efforts of all party supporters.
He commended the MP for initiating many physical development projects in the constituency and urged him not to relent on his efforts but to continue to provide more of such amenities to uplift the area.
The Senior Presidential Advisor admonished Mr Acquah and his campaign team to eschew arrogance, complacency, the use of vulgar language and insulting words against their political opponents, but should strive to win more voters to the party in order to increase the presidential votes come December 7, 2024.

Mr prime minister, Gabby your deputy, Ofiri Atta the Chancellor, Asante Bediatuo, Dr Afriyie Akoto...you have been very irresponsible, reckless and wicked. You realised that Akuffo Addo is not a leader (but an agitator) and you hijacked the government. You could have done better after sidelining Bawumiah yet you are now waking up to the reality, the destruction you have done to this country. Election 2024 will not be a herculean task, it will be a verdict on your performance as Senior minister cum the senior Advisor over the last 7 years. You have not only succeeded collapsing Ghana but the goodwill for NPP is at all time low, very unattractive! You and your descendants may never know peace for the untold hardships on Ghanaians due to your wickedness. ***barred word*** Mafias.
Hmmmm, when did you realize this? If you were doing things right, " breaking the 8" wouldn't have been a Herculean task for the NPP. You served in various ministries under the Kufuor regime. Ask yourself, if Kufuor was doing things the way the current president and his appontees are doing, will the NPP be attractive for Ghanaians to vote for Akuffo Addo to be the president? What sort of advice have you been giving the president and nothing seems to be working or he doesn't take your advice? You people are/were behaving as if the last elections ever to be held in the fourth republic was the 2020 elections. The reality is now staring you in the face and you know there is a certain Hercules. You were once a minister of finance under kufour, will Kufuor have allowed you to do what the current finance minister is doing? The current appointees together with the appointing authority have come to dismantle the painstaking foundation Kufuor laid to make the NPP attractive knowing very well majority of Ghana's youths today didn't see the Busia regime. None of kufour's ministers ever said Winning the 2008 elections would be a Herculean task. Indeed the person he handed over the flag bearership to ie Akuffo Addo led with 49%+ in the 2008 elections. This tells you the NPP was still the preferred choice of Ghanaians after 8 years in office thanks to the untiring efforts of Kufour. What has changed for you to now admit that winning the 2024 elections will be a Herculean task? What has changed? Is it not the same NPP or you are admitting that the Kufuor NPP is the direct opposite of this one? A brand new 2017 elephant with very big ears as usual, unfortunately it doesn't listen, at best it hears but won't listen. Any leader who thinks his views and opinions are superior to the views of 30 million people will end up representing nobody but himself. This is currently what is happening. It serves you right. You said the public sector was over populated and needs downsizing only to go and create 2 new portfolios for your children at SSNIT because your children are better than other people's children. Hope their votes alone will ease the Herculean task you are envisaging. Hmmmnnn
