Report reaching Peacefmonline.com reveals that there was a near slugfest between the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye and his main opponent, Ralph Opoku Agyapong at one of the polling stations within the constituency.
The occurrence sparked when the incumbent MP began to sing right after casting his vote for which Mr. Agyapong thought it was an unprofessional thing to do. According to Ralph Agyapong, the act of singing at a voting centre is unprofessional.
The quick intervention of the Ghana Police resolved restored calm at the center.
In the early days of the week, Mr. Ralph Agyapong criticised the Works and Housing Minmister, Asenso Boakye, allegedly falsely claiming projects undertaken by the former MP, The late Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye.
It appeared that some chiefs in the Ashanti Region were rooting for the incumbent MP based on the supposed projects he Asenso Boakye claimed to have started.
During the commissioning of a newly constructed police facility at Ohwim-Amanfrom on Januyary23, the Bantama MP was sighted to have claimed to be the brain behind all the projects in his constituency.
The project is said to be the third police station to be commissioned in the Constituency under the leadership of Mr. Asenso-Boakye.
In contrast, Lawyer Ralph Opoku Agyapong alleged that, “Every single police station was started by the late Daniel Okyem Aboagye and not Asenso as he has been claiming. He has not done much to uplift the constituency.”
