Film Producer and actor Roger Harold Quartey is the latest to fall prey to the attack of heartless armed robbers. The CEO of Roger Q Productions was attacked by armed men at his Spintex Road residence in the wee hours of Tuesday December 8, 2011.
The robbers brutalized him and his family members by slashing him with cutlasses and made away with several items.
Narrating his ordeal in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show on Monday, Roger said the robbers numbering 5, broke into his house through the kitchen door.
We were asleep around midnight, when they (armed robbers) broke in through the kitchen door. We heard a very loud sound and before we realized they were already in the room, he stated.
According to the film producer, the robbers first dragged his niece from her room to the hall where he (Roger) was sleeping and began assaulting them mercilessly with a very sharp cutlass and a huge stick.
the robbers went to another room where my brother-in-law was sleeping with the wife and pulled them to the hallThey slashed me at the knee and asked that I lie face-down before they started their operationthey molested my niece and then pointed a gun at us that if we dare make any noise they will shoot at us, he said.
A grief-stricken Roger Quartey said that luck was however on their side when his next door neighbor raised an alarm after seeing one of the robbers standing on his (Rogers) wall with a gun monitoring the operation.
my neighbours repeated shouts compelled the armed robber standing on the wall to warn his colleagues that they have been found outthey then bolted away, he revealed.
He disclosed that the robbers made away with two laptops, seven mobile phones, two wrist watches, his car keys, an unspecified amount of money among other personal effects.
I guess they were just about to conduct the real operation because all the items they took away were in the hallthey were about to enter the bedroom (and loot) had it not been for my neighbors alarm which startled them.
Roger, whose left leg was hit several times with a cutlass, was admitted at the Inkoom Hospital on the Spintex Road after the horrific incident. He was discharged on Monday but is still recuperating.
My left leg is partially dysfunctional and I can hardly bend it at the knee, he said.
Asked if he could identify the robbers, the movie producer cum actor said because he was made to lie face-down, it will be impossible to do so, he however added that his niece could make them out because she was made to sit on the floor.
The matter is still under police investigations, though no arrests have been made so far.

Roger Quartey ventured into mainstream movie production in 2010 after starring in over 30 movies and working behind the scenes as a Production Manager. The first movie from the stables of Roger Q Productions was the hit maker Turn Me On. It featured Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Kofi Adjorlolo, Yvonne Nelson, Roselyn Ngissah, Beverly Afaglo, Ben Kwadey, Vivian Achor, Eddie Nartey, Omar De 1st, etc.
It did so well on the market that Roger returned to the set very quickly. A number of first time producers are not able to return on set because their movies do not do well on the market, but Roger overcame that unfortunate mark.
His Turn Me On movie was described as an ultimate game of wits with different themes. It explored love, greed, blackmail, hatred, betrayal, treasure and deceit, but at the end, goodness ruled. Its storyline was not just interesting, but perfect.
His second, an emotive tale of tragedy, pain and sorrow was titled Death After Birth, and starred Jackie Appiah, Eddy Watson, Roselyn Ngissah, John Dumelo, Akorfa Ejeani Asiedu and Amanorbea Dodoo, among others.
Staff and management of Peacefmonline.com and all members of the make-believe industry wish him speedy recovery.
