After a successful premiere of sensational movie “Death After Birth” in Accra at the Silverbird Cinemas, on Friday September 2, 2011, Producer Roger Quartey and lead actress Jackie Appiah, left Accra to premiere it far away in Italy.
Their first stop was in Brescia, Italy on 29th December 2011, where they had an overwhelming crowd. The movie was screened at Medeina also in Italy on 30th December 2011. The final screening was in Vicenza on year day January 1, 2012.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Producer Roger Quatey said he was surprised at the number of Ghanaian movie lovers who turned up at the various screenings. He said there have been demands from the Americas, UK and some part of Europe for the movie to be screened there as well but time could not make all that possible.
Roger disclosed that after a long wait the movie will finally be released on the market this month. “Death After Birth” is expected to hit the shelves on Monday March 26, 2012.
‘Death After Birth’, a story filled with tragedy, pain and sorrow is produced by Roger Quartey and directed by Pascal Amanfo. The movie is an emotional story of a young girl, Zynell [played by Jackie Appiah] who is an issue from a bizarre rape incident that befell her mother.
Zynell grew up to be a victim of rape too. She suffered in silence as her own Dad heartlessly raped her several times. She rebelled against her shameful father by killing him and Zynell was sentenced to death by hanging and that is where her pain and suffering intensified.
‘Death After Birth’ features Jackie Appiah, veteran actor Ernest Abbeyquaye-former Director of Gama Films, Doris Sackitey, William Addo (Akpatse), Amanobea Doodo, Vivian Achor amongst others.
