Actress Yvonne Nelson has disclosed in an interview that producer Abdul Salam Mumuni expressed conviction about her abilities from the very onset of her career.
Speaking to MzGee on the White Carpet show on the Joy News Channel, the Heels and Sneakers producer told the host; “I always say this Abdul Salam Mumuni saw me somewhere and said hey, I want to talk to this girl, I want to cast you in my movie Princess Tyra and he did nobody knew me then but he believed in me “.
Princess Tyra is a 2007 Ghanaian Nigerian drama film directed by Frank Rajah Arase, and starred some big wigs like Jackie Agyemang, Yvonne Nelson and Van Vicker .The film received 12 nominations and won 2 awards at the 2008 Africa Movie Academy Awards, including the awards for Best Costume & Best Makeup.
Abdul Salaam Mumini is a Ghanaian filmmaker who helped revive the Ghana Film Industry, which declined between 1998 and 2000.
His first film, which brought attention back to the film industry in Ghana, was God Loves Prostitutes, which starred Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji. Salaam’s Venus Film Production is responsible for the discovery of the likes of Van Vicker, Jackie Agyemang, Nadia Buari and a host of emerging others.
