We know all artists would like to be 'ordained' as the best among their colleagues. This is not uncommon in the Ghanaian Music Industry at all.

It is therefore not surprising to hear some self-acclaimed names such as; 'King of the Street, The Executioner, Best Rapper Alive, Rap Heavy weight Champion and others.

Their claim for supremacy against one another is often accompanied by the act of 'dissing.' Of course they can diss themselves as much as they want but must also save some time to produce quality videos.

How many Ghanaian artists are often nominated for international awards and how many could win? Have you ever taken the pain to ask yourself why Ghanaian music is internationally unpopular? It is not because they are morally bankrupt or composed in our local dialects but because their videos are nothing to write home about.

Ghana's most popular Disc Joker, DJ Black (Kwadwo Ampofo) told ghanacelebrities.com in an interview that Ghanaian Music Industry has almost been taken over by the Nigerians.

"I can say that there is one Ghanaian song to ten Nigerian songs in Ghana. People are demanding them, they are of good quality, good videos and this is what our Ghanaian artists should learn. They should come out with good videos, international videos, videos that are nice. Everybody wants a good thing.

Even if the music is local and the video is nice, people will watch and love it. Nobody would like to watch videos where chickens are running and other things. I hope we see them all the time, i don't wanna watch that."- He advised.

DJ Black who is also a copy writer explained why Ghanaian Music is not often seen on big screens like MTV Base and Channel O as compared to their Nigerian counterparts.

"The last time i went to Channel O, i ask them why they always feature Nigerian music and no Ghanaian or Senegalese music. They told me those videos are of poor quality. That is the truth and i understood where they were coming from."

The famous Disc Joker concluded that, until Ghanaian artists produce good quality music videos, Nigerian music will continue to dominate in Ghana. As the old saying goes; "the spot that has carcass is where strong vultures descend."
