The music industry in Ghana has long been dominated by the male species. But no worries because things are beginning to look up on the bright side.

The women are taking their rightful place in there. They or rather we have long realized that a number of resolutions on paper at Beijing conference is far from giving us the competitive advantage we've always wanted. We've learnt our lesson and achieving this through some girl action. Over the years a lot of women have taken center stage. Talk of old school Ewura Ama, bad girl Mzbel, Irene, Jane, Dela and many others. Oop but there is one; BECCA.

Is she a model, musician or a social worker? I guess I am going to stick with the music part. Her fame has risen in the last couple of years like a burning furnace, quickly making her a household name in Ghana. She released an album, did collaborations with big names like Hugh Masakela and has a couple of endorsement deals to show for her celebrity status.

I must commend her management team, they have done a whole lot of good with her. Well, not to say she doesn't have talent, but when performances and interviews seem pretty heavily rehearsed;

without a soul it could get a little less interesting. Anyway, that is not the reason for her being on Blacklist. It is far too serious than that.

We love our artiste and we want them to rock the world stage but they are not treating us right. In this relationship called artiste and fans there are rules that must be obeyed. Rule NUMBER 1, when you promise, you deliver and if the artiste don't realize this then the fans must make them. Becca may not be the first to have violated this rule but she certainly caught my attention

Some where last year (i.e. '09), Becca’s management declared an intention to releasing an album by the end of the year. It's OK if things don't go as planned but when fans are left in the dark about it then that, constitutes gross disrespect. She would have been pardoned if an interviewer forced words out of her mouth but this is information given willingly without any form of duress.

Fans are one stakeholder group you don't want to mess up with. It's about time the artiste started showing the fan some respect. It is not enough to end interviews with “I love my fans and I really appreciate them” cliché. One way they can show this is to stick to their promises. I suggest Becca be sanctioned. Her punishment? A 3 months community service at the Osu children’s home and a fine of …. Well, for her ears only. The grand jury has spoken.
