Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos who is presently in Ghana, is obviously enjoying her five-day working visit to Ghana. The Venezuelan queen arrived in Ghana on Saturday May 19, 2012 and Peacefmonline.com has been following her closely.
She first took a trip with her team to Central regional capital Cape Coast on Sunday May 20, where she first paid a courtesy call on Regional Minister Hon. Ama Benyiwa Doe and some queen mothers in the area.
The Regional Minister said she was pleased to receive the team, and gave them a historical background of the heritage that makes Cape Coast a unique region in Ghana, adding that she was happy that the Miss Ghana pageant is not just about beauty but it also aims at injecting life into society. She later pledged a donation of GHC 10,000 to support the Beauty With a Purpose project in Ghana.
The convoy of four cars including; Inna Marriam Patty and her Exclusive Events team, four beauty queens, the Miss World team and pressmen, then moved to the Kakum National Park. Ivian had a natural moment in the reserved forest, after a thrilling walk on the Canopy Walk way. She cooled off with the rest of the team to enjoy coconut water. She told Peacefmonline.com in a brief interview that she is enjoying every bit of her time in Ghana; the people, the hospitality, wonderful tourist attractions and Ghanaian coconut.
The team also paid a visit to the Cape Coast castle, where the queens were taken through the history of slave trade in Ghana and the story behind the construction of the castle. On Monday May 21, the team paid a courtesy call on the presidency, where they met Vice President of Ghana John Mahama at the Osu Castle in Accra.
The team was led by Executive Chairwoman of the Miss World organization Julia Morley, Ivian Sarcos, Miss World 2011, Miss Peurto Rico, Miss England and Chief Mandela, son of former South African leader Nelson Mandela, among a host of others including Stephanie Karikari, Miss Ghana 2010, and Inna Mariam Patty, organizer and franchise holder of the Miss Ghana event, the delegation were at the Castle to formally brief him on the purpose of their visit, and also to ask for his blessings for a smooth execution of the Beauty With a Purpose project embarked upon by Miss Ghana 2010 Stephanie Adwoa Adjeiwaa Karikari.
John Mahama underscored the important role projects like that of Stephanie’s play in the lives of people, especially the Sodom and Gomorrah establishment, adding that the Miss Ghana event continues to be a significant event on the calendar of Ghana’s entertainment industry and that it was important that the office is championing this social course.
Also present at the ceremony were some ministers of state including the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, whose office has donated a piece of land on which the day care facility would be built. Miss Ghana 2010 Stephanie Karikari, a proud winner of last year’s Miss World Beauty with a Purpose award, is seeking to raise funds to put up the facility. The team later visited the project site at the Sodom and Gomorrah establishment by Stephanie.
A special fund raising Charity Ball will be held for Miss World and her team at the Banquet Hall of the State House today Tuesday May 22, to raise a substantial seed money in support of the project. Performing of stage this evening are music maestro Kojo Antwi, International Ghanaian singer, Sherifa Gunu and others.
