Busted For Drug Trafficking? A-Plus Fingers Ndc Activist

Controversial musician and comedian A-Plus has denied reports that he has been busted in the United States for allegedly possessing illegal drugs suspected to be cocaine.

The grapevine was rife with the news on Tuesday that the musician had been arrested by New York police in a Bronx Hotel for trying to smuggle pellets of cocaine into the country.

According to GhanaCelebrities.Com, which first published the story, it came across information on Facebook that read “Another musician arrested for drugs in America … This is an embarrassment to the entertainment industry”.

The website said its checks to ascertain the veracity of the reports yielded no friutful results as several calls placed to his phones didn’t go through.

What might have perhaps lend credence to the story was the report that since he left the country last Friday, it has been difficult to establish contact with him.

But painstaking investigations by Peacefmonline reveal the story is a hoax.

When Peacefmonline reached the musician on phone, he denied the report of his arrest.

A clearly bemused A-Plus stated that he was in Pretoria, South Africa and wondered how US security agencies could bust him for drug trafficking.

"Yes, i did go to the US but returned to Ghana some two weeks ago. I left for South Africa last Friday...i don't know where this report is coming from. I understand it was on Facebook...sometimes i tend not to place too much premium on things people say, but this is too much...i've a lot of respect for the media because we're partners in the entertainment industry so i try not to be too hard when a particular media outfit steps on my toes, but this has gone too far. You know, it's possible my mum or a close relative could have a heart attack upon hearing this piece of false news," he said.

Felix Ofosu Kwakye

A-Plus believes it is a ploy to smear him and fingered a member of the Communications Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Ofosu Kwakye as having a hand in it.

"I hear the news was on facebook last night, and just this morning, i understand Felix Kwakye was on Radio Gold linking my alleged arrest for drug peddling to the fact that i'm Nana Akufo Addo's boy. What kind of politics of this?...If he (Felix) had no hand in the facebook report why should he bring up the issue on Radio Gold?" he quizzed.

The controversial singer said he will back in Ghana this Friday.

Meanwhile, Felix Ofosu Kwakye has denied accusing A-Plus of peddling illicit drugs. Speaking to Peacefmonline a short while ago, the NDC activist said the musician might have been misinformed.

"I never linked his (A-Plus') arrest with Nana Addo...it is not true," he said.
