Controversial hiplife musician A-Plus and songstress Mzbel have both paid glowing tribute to late hiplife musician Araz who was shot dead, Monday.

The lifeless body of the musician, born Nii Ayittey Noryatse, who until his death was the Chief of Joma, a village near Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region, was found in his room about 7a.m Monday.

Araz did enjoy some amount of success with his hit single ‘Laimomo’ released in the early 2000s.

After that success, he struggled to make it in the industry but released several singles including ‘Oseyie’, ‘Ghana Mmaa’, ‘Everybody Hates Ghana’, ‘Ekan Titi Suban’, and ‘Ghana Bra Behywe Wekyi’.

A-Plus, known in real life as Kwame Asare Obeng, speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com recounted that he met Araz around 1999 at Hush Hush Studios in Accra.

“I first met him when I presented my demo to Hush Hush Studio for an auditioning that was coming up at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex and that was how the relationship between [us] began,” he said.

A-Plus added that, “Fortunately, Araz and myself and I think two or three more people were selected by the record label to be produced. So that is how we met.”

Even though they left left Hush Hush Studio, they maintained their relationship: “I have a very good relationship with Araz. I have lived with Araz in the same room, we were on the same record label, we’ve come a long way,” he noted.

Nana Ekua Amoah, known in showbiz as Mzbel, also shared her fond memories of the late hiplife musician in an interview with Myjoyonline.com.

“I followed Araz and some other guys to Hush Hush and then a got a job as the receptionist and then later on I became an artiste,” she recounted.

Mzbel said she featured in Araz’s first album and that, “He was the first to feature me in a song called ‘Charley’ and then I also featured in his video called ‘Sika’ with A-Plus and one other guy called Black Dogg.”

Featuring on Araz’s songs, she disclosed, paved the way for her to become a main artiste as producers became aware of her music talent.

The ‘Awose me’ hit singer chronicled some of the attributes of the late Araz as ”very hardworking and he is very aggressive with his music,” and that he was one personality who never gives up.

“I enjoyed the time that we spent together at Hush Hush Studios,” she added.
