The 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is here and we have a tough battle on our hands. Last year was a good one for artists such as Sarkodie, Kwabena Kwabena, Bisa Kdei, Guru, Castro, and of course Shatta Wale. But of course I have my favourites and not so favourites and its a tough call to make in predicting who wins what.

I have said on several occasions that my favourites are Sarkodie, Kwabena Kwabena, Bisa Kdei and Castro and I hope they all pick up some awards. R2bees is one of my favourites, but Im confused as to how their album, which was the biggest winner in the 2013 VGMAs, has works nominated again this year. I need some education on that from the organizers, and based on that I feel they may not be a big contender this year. But lets wait and see.

Sarkodie makes a huge appearance in this years nominations for his third album as he did with his previous two, but can he repeat the magic of his last two albums? His album, Sarkology was a very hip hop album and many of the tracks were not very commercial in nature. Yet, every major release he made caught on with his fans, and they were major hits across the world true star quality. Kwabena Kwabenas album was one of my favourite albums of the year and as usual had lots of mature songs enjoyed by both the old and young. Hmm, I seem to be going around in circles huh, anyway here we go with my predictions

Artsite of the Year
I would narrow the race to Castro, Kwabena Kwabena, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie but when push comes to shove I think it is going to be between Sarkodie and Shatta Wale. Since Shatta Wales name resonated across the country more than any other artist last year, I think he will win this one.

New Artiste of the Year
I think the decision will be a split between technicalities and public votes. Akwaboah will win on technicalities while Joey B wins on popularity. If I have to pick, I would say based on the popularity of Tonga, Joey B will pick up the award.
Highlife Artiste of the Year
Its difficult choosing between Bisa Kdei, Kwabena Kwabena and Castro but based on works released by them, I will narrow it to Bisa and Kwabena Kwabena because they had more hits. I will give the award to Kwabena Kwabena because he is a more rounded highlife artist.

Gospel Song of the Year
last year I didnt follow gospel music much, but I think OJ stood out for me so I will say the winner is Maye Se Mo Pen OJ

Best Female Vocal Performance
I will narrow it Efya, Joyce Blessing and Gena West. But I have a feeling Efya wont win 3 years in a roll and the song that was nominated for Efya I dont even remember! I think Joyce Blessing may win it.

Best Male Vocal Performance
I will narrow this to Sonnie Badu, OJ, Knii, Lante and Kwabena Kwabena. But will like someone who hasnt won it before to win this year, so I would give it to Sonnie Badu.

African Artiste of the Year
No beating about the bush I want Mafikizolo to win this!

Gospel Artiste of the Year
I will narrow it to Sonnie Badu, OJ, and Joyce Blessing. I think OJ will steal this one.

Hiplife/ Hip Hop Artiste of the Year
I will narrow it to Sarkodie and M.anifest but I think Sarkodie will steal it

Afro Pop Song of the Year
I will narrow it to Fuse ODG, Itz Tiffany, R2Bees feat. Wizkid, and Ruff N Smooth. Hmm tough call to make but I think R2bees has enough star power to steal it from Fuse ODG

Highlife Song of the Year

I will narrow it to Adult Music Kwabena Kwabena, Odo Pa Castro feat. Baby Jet & Kofi Kinaata, Love R2Bees, Metanfo- Bisa Kdei, Break Into 2 Kumi Guitar. I think Odo will steal this one!

Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year
I will narrow it to Jupiter, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. And I think Shatta Wale will easily pick this one up.

Vodafone Song of the Year
A very tough call to make but I will narrow it to Adult Music Kwabena Kwabena feat. Samini
Odo Pa Castro Feat. Baby Jet & Kofi Kinaata, Dancehall King Shatta Wale, Metanfo Bisa ,
Akaiyida (Boys Abr3) Guru. My two picks are Odo Pa and Adult Music but I will give it to Odo Pa.

Best Collaboration of the Year
I will narrow it to Odo Pa Castro feat. Baby Jet & Kofi Kinaata, Slow Down R2Bees feat. Wizkid, and Adult Music-Kwabena Kwabena. My two picks are again Odo Pa and Adult Music but I will give it to Adult Music.

Album of the Year
I will narrow it to Sarkology Sarkodie, Thanks Giving Bisa Kdei, Apae M.anifest
Akaiyida (Boys Abr3) Guru. But I think Sarkodie may steal it from Bisa.

Best Group of the year

I would narrow this to R2bees and Ruff N Smooth but I think R2bees will steal this one.

Hiplife Song of the year

I will narrow this to Boys Abre Guru, Tonga Joey B ft Sarkodie but I think Guru will win this.

Best Rapper of the year

I will narrow this to Trigmatic Wo Sika Nti and M.anifest Someway Bi but M.anifest may steal this one.

Hip hop song of the year

I will narrow this to Lies Sarkodie ft Lil Shaker and Someway Bi M.anifest but again I think M.anifest will steal this too.

Well, good luck to all the nominees.
