Actress Nana Akua has added her voice to the thousands of celebrities across the world advocating for the freedom of about 200 school girls abducted by Nigeria militants, Boko Haram.
According to her, the mass kidnap of Nigerian schoolgirls is part of a wider pattern of threats and intimidation facing girls around the world who pursue an education.
As part of her campaign, the movie star has organized a handful of activists to campaign against the abduction of the girls. The crusaders were holding a sign with the message �#BringBackOurGirls�.
Boko Haram has admitted capturing the girls, saying they should not have been in school and should get married instead. In a latest video the group leader Abubakar Shekau threatened to �sell� the students if the Nigerian government fails to free other militants detained.
Boko Haram, whose name means �Western education is forbidden� in the Hausa language, began its insurgency in Borno state in 2009.
