The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia has called for the [email protected] anniversary planning committee to be sanctioned for the concert by veteran actor Agya Koo and his colleagues during Ghana’s Independence Day celebration on March 6, 2017.
According Nketia, the performance by the veteran actor was highly ‘unnecessary’ and unneeded.
“They just wasted our time and it’s very inhuman for such to happen,” he told Neat FM in an interview.
Mr. Nketia said the idea to sideline the guest of honour, President Robert Mugabe, from delivering a speech was unfortunate.
“For the first time in the history of Ghana, our guest of honour for the occasion did not deliver any speech. None of them [other Presidents] even made a sentence on the day yet they brought Agya Koo for that concert,” he said.
He maintained that the handover ceremony from former President John Dramani Mahama to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was far more successful than the [email protected] anniversary celebration.
